Lloyds Register Sponsors Special London Celebration

UK – You still have time to apply for tickets to a very special occasion taking place in London on the 24th January. Just after Christmas may not be the ideal time to advertise a sumptuous dinner but when the cause is as important as the Sailors’ Society and offers a chance to support the needy from the merchant shipping industry it should not be taken lightly – particularly when coming with a ticket is the chance to take an exclusive look at a particularly interesting and important venue.

The Sailors’ Society’s London City Shipping Dinner is offering attendees the rare opportunity to dine in Lloyd’s Register’s historic General Committee Room. The evening will commence with a drinks reception during which guests will have the opportunity to take an exclusive tour of the Lloyd’s Register building accompanied by a resident historian. This will be followed by a sumptuous three course meal with wine after which guests will be regaled with tales from a particularly inspiring guest speaker.

At this year’s event the chosen personality will be the celebrated Rosie Swale Pope MBE speaking during the evening. Rosie is an author, sailor, global runner and all-round adventurer and her achievements to date include sailing alone across the Atlantic in a 17ft boat, running 27 marathons in 27 days and twice completing the Marathon des Sables – ‘The toughest foot race on earth’! She will regale guests during the evening, speaking of her remarkable and inspiring exploits.

Lloyds Register is sponsor of the event and other sponsors are always welcome in the knowledge that the Society support goes to help the hundreds of seafarers who find themselves in difficult circumstances, often when thousands of miles from home and suffering from injury or illness.

Established in 1818, the Sailors’ Society is the oldest maritime organisation of its kind. Existing to enhance the well-being of the world’s 1.2 million seafarers, the charity offers practical help, emotional and spiritual support and, when in dire need, financial assistance and family liaison through its Port Chaplains and Seafarers’ Centres. Tickets for this exclusive charity event are £250 each with individual tickets and tables of ten available.
