Women In Freight, Shipping And Logistics In The News

Your Chance to Spotlight the Ladies Who Matter in the Industry
Shipping News Feature

UK – Women working in the freight transport and logistics sector feature for two reasons this week. Applications to attend the Women in Logistics UK annual general meeting and networking event have now closed and we shall publish a review after the 12th January meeting. The organisation is keen however to recruit more members from shipping and supply chain service companies at any time and enquiry details can be found HERE.

There is still time however to nominate a colleague for the MAN everywoman Transport and Logistics awards, winners of which will be announced at the ceremony luncheon on the 4th May at the Savoy Hotel in London. Nominations can be made HERE and you have until the 11th February to put names forward for a range of accolades including the years best female Director, Industry Trainer, Commercial Driver plus additional categories for Warehousing, Environmental Achievements and Team of the Year.

Winning an award reinforces a company’s position as a forward thinking operation in an industry for too long dogged by a ‘male only’ attitude. Lucy Parker, Operations Support Manager from DHL Supply Chain *** picked up last years Warehousing Award title and commented:

"Winning The Warehousing Award was such an honour and really helped me to understand how my colleagues and line managers valued the contribution that I make in a challenging operational environment. The ceremony was an outstanding event and meeting so many other successful and enthusiastic women in transport and logistics was a great experience"

So if you wish to nominate a colleague, be they director or truck driver, or even a supplier’s staff member, for an award; firstly take a quick look at the rules of entry HERE, and then simply complete the on line form. The role of women in the logistics industries is growing and, with just around 10% of management positions occupied by the fairer sex, it’s high time to support such initiatives as those offered by Women in Logistics and the MAN everywoman awards.
