Who Is Going Where and When in Freight and Logistics Appointments

WORLDWIDE – Our weekly round-up of staff changes in the freight and logistics sector starts with the international shipping association, the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), which has announced Philippe Louis-Dreyfus, of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs the French global conglomerate which includes ocean vessels and RoRo freight ferries in its portfolio, as its new President for the next two years, succeeding John Denholm who ended his tenure at the organisation's recent AGM. BIMCO also announced, Anastasios Papagiannopoulos from Common Progress, as the new President Designate.

SWITZERLAND – Transocean has announced that Esa Ikaheimonen is stepping down as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Ikaheimonen has also resigned his company-appointed position as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transocean Partners LLC, a subsidiary of Transocean. The company has named Mark Mey as a successor to Ikaheimonen as EVP and CFO effective May 28, 2015.

NORWAY – Remi Eriksen has been named to take over from Henrik Madsen as the Group President and CEO of DNV GL. Currently the group's Chief Operating Officer, Eriksen succeeds Madsen who is retiring on August 1.

GREECE – Paragon Shipping has announced Lambros Theodorou to the Board of Directors as an independent, non-Executive Director. Theodorou has also been appointed to the Company's Audit, Compensation and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committees.

UK – Global independent freight network the WACO System has named Shinji Kitamura, Managing Director of Nishi Nippon Railroad (NNR) Global Logistics, to its Board of Directors.

UK – Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has appointed Dyan Crowther, Chief Operating Officer of Govia Thameslink Railway, to the British Transport Police Authority.

UK – SINGAPORE – The Shipowners’ Club has announced the appointment of Steve Randall to the Board of the Shipowners’ Protection Limited (SPL) as Commercial Director. Randall, who was previously Commercial Director for Asia for just over three years, will continue to drive the Club’s business development strategy from Singapore, and will work closely alongside the underwriting and claims teams in both London and Singapore.

US – President Obama is to nominate Marie Therese Dominguez as Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and Sarah Feinberg as Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), both at the Department of Transportation.

US – PPG Protective & Marine Coatings has announced the appointment of Richard Holliday as Global Director, Hydrocarbon Passive Fire Protection Coatings. Holliday succeeds Paul Greigger, who has retired after 36 years of service.

SOUTH KOREA – WORLDWIDE – In a somewhat tenuously linked industry appointment related news, Chung Mong-joon, Hyundai Heavy Industries largest controlling shareholder and son of the Hyundai conglomerate founder, Chung Ju-yung, is considering entering the race for the FIFA Presidency.
