Week's Staff Changes Open with Retirement of Freight and Logistics Industry Veteran

WORLDWIDE – This week’s round up of staff changes in the logistics sector begin with the news of the stepping down of a freight industry veteran as The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has announced that its Secretary General, Doug Brittin will retire at the end of this year. He will stay with TIACA in an advisory capacity once a replacement has been found. Doug Brittin took over the position in July 2013 and has a career stretching back 36 years as a senior professional in a variety of logistics and governmental roles.

UK – Glen Davies FCILT will be taking an associate role within CILT to lead on special projects in the fields of freight transport, city logistics, environment and safety.

UK – The Freight Transport Association’s (FTA) Van Excellence programme has appointed Julie Davies, Fleet and Plant Compliance Manager at Amey, as the new Chair of its Governance Group. Made up of van operators, the independent Governance Group steers the Van Excellence scheme by providing advice regarding standards and integrity of the industry. A founder member of the Group since it was formed in 2010, Davies was voted as Chair at a recent meeting when she was appointed the role.

FRANCE – Worldwide Flight Services has announced the appointment of former CEO of Menzies Aviation, Craig Smyth as CEO, effective August 29. Smyth will relocate to Paris where he will be based at WFS's Charles de Gaulle offices in Roissy.

US – Amtrak has named Charles ‘Wick’ Moorman as it next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1. Moorman joins Amtrak after more than 40 years at Norfolk Southern where he rose from Management trainee to CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He succeeds current CEO Joe Boardman, who announced his intention to retire last year.

US – MNX Global Logistics has announced Fred deLeeuw as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately, joining from Southern Air where held the position of Executive Vice President and CFO.

US – Founding CEO of Virgin America and Former President of Delta Airlines Fred Reid has been appointed to the Board of Directors at OneJet. In his board role, Reid will help lead a team which now includes some of the nation's most experienced transportation executives, including former US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, MIT Chancellor Cynthia Barnhart, and former Kayak Chairman Terry Jones.

US – Choice Logistics has announced Jordan Kaufman as it new Chief Information Officer, replacing Robert Bacchi, who is stepping down to pursue other interests.
