Week's Appointments Range across Freight, Logistics and Container Shipping Lines, Haulage and Ports

WORLDWIDE – A very varied range of announcements this week covering many areas of the logistics industry, from container shipping and freight forwarding industries to air cargo, port and road haulage management appointments and departures.

US – John Reinhart announced his retirement as President and CEO of Virginia based Maersk Line Limited. He will continue to lead the company until his departure at the end of January 2014.

US – Northrop Grumman has appointed Maureen Del Duca as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Litigation and Investigations, effective immediately.

CANADA – Airports Council International (ACI) has announced the appointment of Martine Ohayon as Director Communications and Events, effective 7 October, following her 18-year tenure in communications and event management at IATA. She will be based at ACI World in Montreal and succeeds Cheryl Marcell, who left ACI in June to become Deputy Director for Business Development at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.

THE NETHERLANDS – Damco has appointed Tommy Mølgaard as Global Chief Financial Officer. Mølgaard takes up his position in Damco’s Headquarters after occupying the role of Head of Corporate Finance at APM Terminals.

GERMANY – On November 1, 2013, Arjan Sissing will take over as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Responsibility at Deutsche Post DHL after Wolfgang Giehldecided to leave the company at the end of the year following 18 years of service.

UK – GERMANY – Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has announced the appointment of Anthony Quinn as its Senior Vice President, Head of Global Business Development, effective October 1. Quinn will be based in both London and Hamburg.

UK – The UK Chamber of Shipping has announced that its current Chief Executive of Caledonian Maritime Assets, Guy Platten, will be the new Chief Executive, effective January 2014.

UK – The Port of London Authority has appointed Robin Mortimer as Chief Executive, succeeding Richard Everitt, who will be retiring after holding the position since December 2004. Mortimer, currently a Director in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will join the Authority in March 2014.

UK – The Canute Group has appointed Gary Sharp as its new Operations Director. Sharp, former Divisional Director at Bibby Distribution, will be based at the Group’s headquarters in Essex.

UK – The Dover Harbour Board as appointed Tim Waggott as Chief Executive. Previously Chief Operating Officer, Waggott took up the position of acting Chief Executive following the retirement of Bob Goldfield, earlier this year in June.

HONG KONG – Virgin Atlantic Cargo has appointed Neil Vernon as regional Vice President of Sales for its Asia Pacific Region. He will be based at the regional headquarters in Hong Kong and reports to Nick Jones, Head of Sales.
