EUROPE – We start the weekly job appointment column not with those who carry freight and containers, but the people who pick up the pieces when there are problems, as towage and salvage group Svitzer has announced the appointment of Fred Jeeninga as Cluster Managing Director, Continental Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Georgia), and Maurice McKeating as Cluster Managing Director, UK South.

Jeeninga holds nearly 20 years of experience from the marine service industry and has been with Svitzer since 2009, most recently as Operations Manager in Svitzer Americas before taking on his new role.

McKeating has nearly 30 years of international experience, the majority of which were regional or managing director roles. Prior to joining Svitzer, he was most recently Cluster Head, UK, Ireland and Mediterranean of APL.

UK – Associated British Ports (ABP) has announced Alison Rumsey, currently Group HR Director at Network Rail Infrastructure, will be joining ABP later this year. She will become ABP’s Chief Human Resources Officer.

UK – Seafarers UK Director General Commodore Barry Bryant CVO RN has announced that he will be retiring later in the year.

UK – London Offshore Consultants (LOC) Group has announced the appointment of Nikos Benetis as Group Director of Hull & Machinery and Due Diligence Services.

UK – Oakland International has appointed Bob Richards to the post of General Manager at its Redditch facility.

UK – Mercedes-Benz has announced Katie Purcell to the position of Head of Special Trucks – Unimog. In her new role, Purcell report to Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK Managing Director Mike Belk, and is responsible for driving sales within the Special Vehicles sector, and will be based in Milton Keynes.

UK – ArrowXL has announced two new appointments to join its team. Adam Jeffryes joins the Business as General Manager Enfield, whilst Allan Pape has been named as the company’s new Business Development Manager.

UK – Crane Worldwide Logistics has announced Ivan Liso to the position of Director Projects, EPC & Marine EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) and will lead the Global Specialised Solutions group for the EMEIA region. Liso will report to Joshua van Altena, Director of Operations EMEIA with functional alignment under Chris Mitchell, VP Global Specialised Solutions.

Liso has worked in freight forwarding since 1995 and has held the Sales and Division Manager position as part of the Pacorini Forwarding Project Cargo division. Pacorini Forwarding was acquired by Crane Worldwide Logistics in 2017.

FRANCE – Angus Clarke has been named Executive Vice President Strategy of Air France KLM. He becomes a member of the Group Executive Committee and reports directly to Benjamin Smith, Group CEO. His appointment will be effective as of February 1, 2019.

US – Norfolk Southern (NS) has announced Michael Cox as its new Vice President Taxation. Effective March 1, Cox will succeed Robert Kesler, who is retiring. Cox will be based in Norfolk until the Tax Department relocates to Atlanta in early summer, and he will report to Cynthia Earhart, Executive Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
