US – The latest edition of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) statistical compendium is now available for purchase. The publication “Trends – American Trucking Trends 2011” provides a breakdown of a multitude of facts about the current condition of the road freight industry across the country. ATA President and CEO Bill Graves said:

“For over 60 years, Trends has provided a profile of the dynamics shaping the trucking industry. It is the singularly most important guide to trucking facts and figures and also serves as a vital source of information on major trucking and transportation issues.”

Trends is full of just about every fact relevant to the industry including employment data (US trucking employs nearly 7 million people – including more than 3 million drivers, 164,000 of whom are women) trucks consumed an incredible 33.9 billion gallons of diesel fuel in 2010, Class 8* trucks travelled more than 108 billion miles last year and contributed, along with other classes of haulage vehicles, a massive $34.3 billion in federal and state highway-user taxes.

American Trucking Trends 2011 is available exclusively from ATA Business Solutions and participating state trucking associations in both down loadable .pdf format or hard copy. To learn more, or to purchase the report click HERE.

* The Class 8 truck gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is anything above 33,000 pounds (14,969 kg). This includes all tractor trailer (articulated) trucks.
