US – ARGENTINA – When money is tight, and there are few globally who would dispute that now is one of those times, crime levels in the freight and logistics business soar. From the theft of diesel from the small road haulage operator to piracy on the high seas off the Somali coast more and more companies are having to upgrade their security arrangements to deal with a variety of threats.
This week Texas based FreightWatch International, a leading logistics security services provider announced today it has formed an alliance with Argentinean based freight security company, Assist Cargo, to offer expanded cargo monitoring capabilities in Latin America. This alliance will allow both companies to collectively expand their global footprint and expertise in the cargo visibility marketplace by providing managed services to protect high value products in transit via all modal options from Argentina to anywhere in the world.
Cargo theft has risen astronomically in Argentina recently, reported incidents almost doubling in 2011 against last years figures with Buenos Aires Province being the hardest hit. FreightWatch International offers active monitoring solutions that provide organizations with complete cargo visibility from origin to destination.
Assist Cargo is based in Buenos Aires and Mexico City and claims to be the risk management market leader in Argentina liaising with insurance brokers to integrate risk management services into their transportation policies to improve the performance of accounts which have a high level of claims.
The two companies say they will cooperate to utilise the best available ‘end to end’ technologies and business practices to mitigate clients risks and Barry Conlon, CEO of FreightWatch International commented on the alliance saying:
“FreightWatch International and Assist Cargo will improve the efficiency of its clients’ supply chains by delivering cost-effective programs that safeguard products from theft, contamination and spoilage. Assist Cargo is the most qualified partner of choice and we are proud to serve the Argentinean marketplace together.”
