UK – Lancing-based transport firm South Link Logistics is celebrating a successful 2016 having reached an impressive three-million-pound turnover. The family-run business operates a fleet of 15 vehicles and had an initial turnover of £500,000 when founded in 1991. The road haulage operator has also just celebrated its two-year anniversary of being a member of palletised freight network Pall-Ex, further contributing to South Link’s growth. Co-founder Karl Reidy said:

“There are so many companies in the South East that rely on South Link to move their goods around the country. If you offer a good service, then opportunities will always arise for company growth. Being part of Pall-Ex has helped us to expand our range of services. We’re delighted with our two recent milestones but we won’t stop there!”

Meanwhile Tewksbury-based Arthur Spriggs & Sons is launching a major push into the commercial vehicle service market, with ambitious plans to open a string of maintenance depots across the South of England, expanding from its freight carrying roots.

The company already has workshop facilities at its headquarters site, which has been granted ‘Authorised Repairer’ status by Mercedes-Benz and Fuso Trucks. Now it is building on this foundation by embarking on a programme of extensions and improvements at the site, as well as laying plans to develop similar facilities at its second depot near Rushden, in Northamptonshire, as well as plans to open two further facilities in East and West Sussex.

Each will see a fleet of Arthur Spriggs haulage trucks operating alongside a new, purpose-built workshop and parts department. Perry Reeves, who has been recruited by Arthur Spriggs from the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Network to run their new servicing centres, said:

“Arthur Spriggs is in a great position. The fact that we are also in the transport industry means we know exactly what kind of pressures operators are facing, and what they need in terms of support to keep their fleets on the move. Our haulage business is also able to support customers if need be, we can provide a truck to help complete an urgent delivery if a vehicle suffers a breakdown.

“Our message to hauliers is this: We’re on your side, we understand your business and can provide the help you need, come and talk to us.”
