Two New Container Ships For CMA CGM

More Korean New Builds for French Giant

SOUTH KOREA – FRANCE – Shipping line CMA CGM have announced the delivery into service of two container vessels after their completion by the Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co shipyards. The news comes immediately after our report on the four new Hanjin built ships named for Rickmers last week. The latest vessels are the CMA CGM Lamartine and CMA CGM Callisto which can carry 6,500 and 11,400 TEU respectively.

The larger vessel began service on the FAL 5 (French Asia Line) on rotation from Ningbo on Saturday heading for Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang and Singapore.

The Callisto is is the third of a series of 12 vessels of 11,400 TEU ordered by the CMA CGM Group. They will be delivered between 2010 and 2011. The vessel has impressive dimensions (360 meter long, 45 meter large, 15.5 meter draught) and is equipped with innovative environmental-friendly features.

The Lamartine sailed from Yokohama on Friday on an inaugural voyage on the MEX service (Mediterranean Express) and her rotation is Yokohama, Kobe, Pusan, Kwanyang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, Beirut, Malta, Valencia, Barcelona, Fos, Genoa, Naples, Malta, Damietta, Khorfakkan, Port Kelang, Chiwan, Yokohama.
