Two New Chairs for the World Shipping Council Leads Logistics Related Appointments

WORLDWIDE – The World Shipping Council (WSC) Board of Directors elected two Co-Chairs of the Board to succeed outgoing Board Chair Ron Widdows. Effective since November 24, the WSC Board will be co-chaired by Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd and Jeremy Nixon, CEO of ONE, serving for an initial two-year term.

Widdows, who has served as the WSC Chairman for over a decade, previously announced his intention to step down once his successor was elected by the newly expanded Board of Directors.

The WSC has also announced that Kenneth Chia will join WSC as its new Managing Director - Asia, based in Singapore, effective January 1, 2021. Chia has served most recently as Executive Director of the Singapore Maritime Foundation after spending more than 25 years at Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) and APL in positions of increasing responsibility

WORLDWIDE – At the recent International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association’s (FIATA) General Meeting, Stephen McDermott from the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) has been elected as the new Chair of the FIATA Logistics Institute, and Niels Beuck from Bundesverband Spedition und Logistik (DSLV) as the new Chair of the Advisory Body on Safety and Security.

UK – The UK Chamber of Shipping has announced that Nick Brown, Lloyd’s Register’s (LR) Marine and Offshore Director and the incoming Group CEO from January 1, 2021, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of the UK Chamber of Shipping.

UK – Videalert has announced the appointment of Rob Kinch as Technical & Innovations Director. As part of the company’s senior management team, he has now also joined the Marston Holdings Client Development and Innovation Boards.

SPAIN – The General Deputy Director of the Valencia Port Authority (APV), Manuel Guerra, has been named Honorary Member of the Association for Collaboration between Ports and Cities (RETE). The Governing Board of this institution recently elected the President of the Bay of Cádiz Port Authority, Teófila Martínez, as President.

Guerra has been Vice President of the Association for the last three years. In addition, he will become part of the Advisory Committee of the Governing Board.

SWEDEN – Concordia Maritime has appointed Martin Nerfeldt as new CFO and member of Group management. Nerfeldt replaces the current CFO Ola Helgesson, who has decided to leave his position to take on new challenges. Nerfeldt takes up his new position as on February 1, 2021. Helgesson continues in his present role until then.

US – Shawn Richard, Vice President Global Air Freight at SEKO Logistics, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Airforwarders Association (AfA). He joins other newly elected board members for the upcoming 2021-2024 term of office and will be officially sworn into office at the AfA’s virtual Board meeting on January 5.

US – Union Pacific (UP) has named Craig Richardson to succeed Rhonda Ferguson in the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Richardson most recently served as Vice President of Commercial and Regulatory Law. He’s also held the position of Associate General Counsel.

US – American Trucking Associations (ATA) has announced Mario Grande to serve as the organisation’s Chief Commercial Officer.

US – Terry Williams, Strategic Relationships Manager for Commercial Truck Trader, has been elected as President of the Used Truck Association (UTA) Board of Directors.

US – Samsara has announced Sue Wagner and Jonathan Chadwick to its Board of Directors. Wagner is the co-founder and former COO of BlackRock, a global investment manager and technology provider. Chadwick has 30 years of experience working with various technology companies. He was formerly CFO at VMWare, Skype and McAfee, and spent 12 years at Cisco.
