TURKEY – Low cost carrier Corendon Airlines, founded in Antalya in 2004, has appointed Kargosistem as its cargo General Sales and Service Agents (GSSA) for its home country. The freight agency was won following a competitive tender process and the Istanbul based company will provide sales, marketing, reservations, post-flights, revenue collection and claims handling for Corendon, which operates over twenty flights per week from three Turkish airports to around 90 destinations in Europe, Scandinavia and Kazakhstan.

Kargosistem was established in 1996, and also has offices in Ankara, Izmir and Bursa whilst also representing numerous other air cargo carriers. Kargosistem MD Demir Ozerman commented:

“We are very pleased to add Corendon Airlines to our carrier offering. We are particularly targeting traffic to Amsterdam, Ercan (Cyprus), Rotterdam and Corendon’s German destinations. We expect cut flowers, seeds and carpet to form a significant part of their business from Turkey. They also open up interesting feeder and interline opportunities.”

The Corendon fleet comprises nine B737 aircraft, six of which are of the latest (Dash 800) type. Cargo capacity is up to 1500kgs per flight, subject to sector and baggage load and the airline has undergone significant growth every year since its inception with plans to add further destinations to its network within the foreseeable future. Batughan Karaer, Corendon’s Deputy General Manager said:

“We believe Kargosistem’s sales and office network throughout Turkey will help us to fully exploit the cargo potential for our services, to a degree that was not previously possible.”
