US – Last week General Motors held the ‘2014 Supplier of the Year’ award ceremony in Detroit to recognise its top 78 global suppliers across all areas of the business and third party logistics group Ceva was delighted to receive a mention as the only 3PL provider to collect an award at the event. Steve Kiefer, GM Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain said the companies selected were deserving of the accolades as recognition for their outstanding contributions.

The catalyst for the 2014 global award resulted from the close working relationship of the GM and Ceva teams in Brazil. For a project in 2014, the two companies’ teams worked together with complete transparency from initial strategy planning and negotiations on costs and financial structures, through to flawless execution during implementation. Ceva says it managed to meet all expectations and deliver additional cost savings in the process. Richard Vieites, Ceva Managing Director for South America commented:

“To be recognized globally for our efforts in the region is truly an honor. Given the size and complexity of the project requirements, our team was able to execute flawlessly through every step from award to implementation, all in record time.”

GM and Ceva began doing business together in the 1980’s. Today, Ceva serves GM through dozens of global operations in North America, South America, Asia Pacific and Europe. Ceva provides an extensive list of complete end-to-end supply chain services for GM including ground transportation, warehousing, sub-assembly/sequencing, line feeding, aftermarket dealer delivery and cross docking, as well as Freight Management services including Air and Ocean freight forwarding, U.S. customs brokerage and project/equipment moves.
