UK – Once again the great and the good of the country’s forwarding community will gather next January for the 2014 British International Freight Association (BIFA) Awards and this year’s host will be the financial journalist and regular 'BBC Breakfast' presenter, Naga Munchetty, who will take to the stage to present the finalist certificates and, along with the category sponsors, to award well-deserved trophies to the winners of the nine award categories, and there is still time for full and probationary Members of BIFA, the trade association for UK freight forwarding companies, to enter this year’s contest.

As former co-host of BBC Two’s weekday financial affairs programme Working Lunch, Munchetty now also regularly presents the BBC News Channel and BBC World. She previously presented on Bloomberg Television where she covered the state of the economy, the collapse of Northern Rock and the global economic downturn.

Closing date for entering this year’s competition at 17:00 hours on Friday 26th September and to register for any of the category awards, please simply click here. Returning category and ceremony sponsors point to the successful status of the BIFA Freight Service Awards, which last year celebrated their Silver Jubilee in style and always prove to be a great opportunity for networking.

For the second year running, the gold sponsor of the host is DP World London Gateway - the UK's new world class deep sea container port and Europe's largest logistics park, designed to help exporters and importers reduce costs and improve supply chain performance. Also joining DP World London Gateway as Ceremony Sponsors to support the event are American Airlines Cargo, Delamode, Descartes, MCP, Port of Antwerp, Simpex FM and Woodland Group.

It speaks volumes that this year’s event, once again to be held at popular London venue The Brewery on Chiswell Street on 22 January 2015, will see eight of last year’s Category Sponsors return to support the awards, joined this time by newcomer Cargoguide International. The nine categories of the BIFA Freight Service Awards 2014 are as follows:

General Categories:

• Environment Award – sponsored by Red Recruit

• Project Forwarding Award – sponsored by Peter Lole & Co

• Special Services Award – sponsored by Forward Computers

• Staff Development Award – sponsored by Albacore Systems

• Supply Chain Management Award – sponsored by BoxTop Technologies

Modal Categories:

• Air Freight Award – sponsored by IAG Cargo

• Ocean Freight Award – sponsored by Cargoguide International

• European Logistics Award – sponsored by TT Club

Individual Category:

Once again, the winner of the Young Freight Forwarder Award will receive a cheque for £1,000 and be nominated as the UK candidate for the Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award 2014.
