SWITZERLAND – Freight forwarding and 3PL group Panalpina has proposed Dirk Reich as a new Member of the Board at its upcoming AGM on May 3. If accepted, he will succeed Roger Schmid, who will not stand for re-election. Reich was previously the CEO of Cargolux Airlines and has sat on the board of Kuehne + Nagel. With the exception of Schmid, all the other current board members will stand for re-election for another one-year term.
UK – Allseas Global Logistics has appointed Tony Verillo as Development Manager of the newly established Recyclables division. Allseas has long been involved in the export/import of recyclable materials. In response to the growing market, the freight forwarder created a dedicated team to handle the increasing volume of such shipments.
UK – Gerry Walsh has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), following the death of David Noble. Walsh, a past President of CIPS who served on both CIPS Council and the Board, will take up the role on April 3 while the search for a permanent CEO begins.
UK – The Uniserve Group has announced Michael Hurcum as its new Group Marketing Manager.
GERMANY – Hapag-Lloyd has extended the Executive Board contracts of Chief Operating Officer Anthony Firmin and Chief Financial Officer Nicolás Burr by two years until 30 June 2019 and 29 February 2020 respectively.
NORWAY – Global Maritime has announced Egil Kvannli as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
SWEDEN – Johan Jemdahl has been named as the new CEO of Greencarrier Freight Services. Jemdahl, who has been in Greencarrier's Board of Directors for the last four years, was most recently the Managing Director for Ericsson in Nigeria.
FINLAND – Ilmo Kuutti has been appointed to the position of President of NAPA Group, succeeding Juha Heikinheimo who served in to role for five and half years. Kuutti more recently held the role of Executive Vice President, NAPA for Design and Senior Vice President, Key Customers. Under the new leadership, NAPA will be reorganising its business into three main units, from April 1; Design Solutions, Safety Solutions, and Shipping Solutions.
Executive Vice President Mikko Kuosa will lead NAPA Design Soltions, EVP Esa Henttinen will head NAPA Safety Solutions, and EVP Naoki Mizutani lead NAPA Shipping Solutions.
US – The American Trucking Association’s Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) has named TMC Technical Director Robert Braswell as its acting Executive Director, replacing Carl Kirk who left the organisation.
US – Genco Shipping and Trading has named Jesper Christensen as Vice President and Commercial Director, Minor Bulk Fleet.
US – Alaska Airlines has elected Wayne Newton as Vice President of Airport Operations and Customer Service. Newton replaces Jeff Butler, who is now Alaska Airlines’ Vice President of Guest and Inflight Services – Virgin America.
