UK – Mark Bromley has taken up his new role as the National Chairman of the British International Freight Association (BIFA), for a two year period, succeeding Fred Osborn, who becomes Immediate Vice-Chairman, also for a two year term. John Stubbings, Group Director and Company Secretary of the Woodland Group, has been elected Vice-Chairman to work alongside Osborn. Sir Peter Bottomley, MP, remains as BIFA President.

Bromley has been associated with BIFA for many years, working for BIFA Member Allways International Freight Forwarding. He was previously Chairman of BIFA’s Surface Policy Group.

UK – DSV has appointed Kelly Dennis to head up its Customer Service Team, based in Purfleet, reporting to Michael Heard, Customer Service General Manager.

UK – Mark Henderson has been promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the North of England, Scotland, and Ireland at DFDS. He previously worked in the customer-facing roles as an Officer on board the company’s Newcastle-Amsterdam ship <i>King Seaways</i>.

UK – The Port of Tyne has appointed Lucy Armstrong, Chief Executive of business consultancy, The Alchemists, as its new Chair.

NORWAY – Ulrike Haugen has taken up the position of Chief Communications Officer at the DNV GL Group. She joins DNV from ABB Marine & Ports, where she held the position of Group VP Marketing and Communications, and is based at DNV GL’s headquarters in Høvik, Norway.

JAPAN – Delta Cargo has announced Eric Anderson as its new Director of Cargo Sales for the Asia Pacific region, taking over from Eric Wilson, who was recently promoted to Managing Director, Global Cargo Sales. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Anderson will take up his new role on August 1.

US – Joan Story has been elected President of the Port Commissioners at the Port of Oakland, for a one year term. She succeeds Michael Colbruno, who will remain on the Board as a Commissioner. Story, a real estate attorney, was nominated for the Port Board in July 2015 by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.

Commissioners also elected Cestra Butner as First Vice President of the Board and Andreas Cluver as Second Vice President.

US – Masterpiece International has named Vlad Fruman as Director of Product Management, focussing primarily on sourcing the best possible freight regardless of mode of transportation for all of the company’s divisions. Fruman will be based at the Manhattan officer and reports directly to Thomas Gilgen, President of Masterpiece International.

US – Caterpillar has announced the appointment of Cheryl Johnson as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 24. She will report directly to Caterpillar CEO Jim Umpleby, and will become a member of the company’s Executive Office. 

US – Meritor has appointed Cheri Lantz as Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately.

US – Allison Transmission Holdings has announced the promotion of G. Frederick Bohley, Vice President of Finance, to the additional role of Treasurer. Allison also announced the appointment of Raymond Posadas as Director of Investor Relations, reporting to Bohley.

US – United Airlines has named Terry Fariello as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, based in Washington DC. She joins from ExxonMobil where she served as Vice President of its Washington DC office. She begins her new role on August 14 and will report to Brett Hart, United's Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel.

US – WORLDWIDE – Oceans Beyond Piracy have announced that its Director, Jon Huggins, is stepping down from his role from August 1. A search for a replacement is currently underway and in the interim, Huggins will stay on in a more limited capacity.
