UK – Ernst Schulze has taken up the reigns as DP World’s UK Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Chris Lewis, who is retiring after a long and successful 36 years in the ports industry. Schulze oversees the Southampton and London Gateway container terminals, the Logistics Park at London Gateway and Community Network Services (CNS), which provides customs clearance and digital logistics services.

Schulze has moved from Ecuador where he has been heading up the development of DP World Posorja, the first deep-water port in the South American nation, which will sit adjacent to a 100 hectare logistics zone.

UK – BIMCO Secretary General and CEO, Angus Frew, has announced he will step down in the summer of 2020, as he wishes to spend more time in the UK and less time working. Frew was appointed BIMCO Secretary General & CEO in 2013, coming from a position as the Chief Executive at the UK Chamber of Shipping. BIMCO says that the search for his replacement has started.

UK – Lee Smith has been appointed as the Managing Director of Leadec’s UK business unit, effective October 1. Lee Smith joined Leadec in 2017 as COO for the UK region, bringing over 20 years of experience with him from the automotive sector.

Previously its own region, the UK business unit of Leadec is now part of the Leadec’s new Europe Division led by the newly appointed Henry Kohlstruck, who joined the management team of Leadec at the beginning of the month, taking over from Dr. Wolfgang Mauz, the former CEO of the Central Europe region, who will hand over his operational responsibilities on October 1, ensuring a smooth succession.

UK – Global law firm Clyde & Co has appointed Andrew Yarwood as a Partner in its London marine cargo group, effective since September 23. Yarwood joins from Kennedys where he specialised in marine insurance, advising cargo insurers including Lloyd's syndicates and the company market, in relation to disputes arising out of the carriage of goods by sea.

UK – Unsworth have appointed Richard Hogg as their new Managing Director.

DENMARK – Kurt Larsen has announced that he has retired from his role as Chair and Member of the Board of Directors at DSV, effective since September 24. Larsen has been a part of DSV since 1989 and a pivotal figure in the development of the history of DSV, which has ultimately seen the company evolve over the years to now become a giant in the global freight and logistics industry.

Following the announcement of Larsen’s immediate retirement, DSV held an extraordinary board meeting. The Board of Directors elected Thomas Plenborg to succeed Larsen. Plenborg has been member of the Board of Directors since 2011 and, most recently, he was Deputy Chair.

Jorgen Moller has also been elected as new Deputy Chair.

US – Union Pacific (UP) has announced that Rob Knight, the company’s Chief Financial Officer since 2004, plans to retire effective December 31, Jennier Hamann has been named to succeed Knight, effective January 1, 2020.

Currently Senior Vice President - Finance, Hamann previously held leadership positions in Investor Relations and Marketing and Sales, formerly served as General Auditor and also worked in Workforce Resources. Hamann joined Union Pacific in 1992 as Corporate Auditor.

US – Claude Mongeau has been elected to the Norfolk Southern (NS) Board of Directors. Mongeau is former President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian National Railway Company, holding those positions from 2010 to 2016. He has been appointed to the Compensation Committee and the Finance and Risk Management Committee of the Norfolk Southern board and will serve as an independent Director.

US – Ardmore Shipping has announced the appointment of Dr Kirsi Tikka to the company’s Board of Directors. Dr. Tikka has over 30 years of shipping experience having recently retired from the American Bureau of Shipping in July.
