The Week's Staff Changes Beginning with Air Cargo Senior Appointments

WORLDWIDE – The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has announced three new appointments to its senior team starting with the appointment of Vladimir Zubkov as the new Secretary General, replacing Doug Brittin, who retires at the end of the year. Zubkov has more than 40 years’ experience in the air transport industry including senior roles with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and most recently as Vice President of the Volga-Dnepr group of companies. He will take over formally in January, with Brittin remaining in an advisory capacity during the handover.

Meanwhile, Robert Mellin, Engagement Lead Logistics at Ericcson Industry & Society, has been promoted from Council member to Vice Chairman of TIACA’s Shippers’ Advisory Council. Bernhard Baertschi, Head of Export at Bioforce has been named as the newest member of the Council.

WORLDWIDE – The International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC) has announced Arndt Steffen as Deputy Director – Planning & Administration, Loss Prevention & Human Resources (Marine) at Bernhard Shipmanagement (Cyprus). Steffen was originally appointed as Chairman in 2012 and was recently reappointed by the Executive Committee.

UK – The Port of London Authority (PLA) has announced two new Non-Executive Directors to join the PLA Board. Judith Armitt has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport (in accordance with the Port of London Act), and Darren James has been appointed by the PLA Board. Both appointment effective December 1.

Armitt was most recently Chief Executive of Local Partnerships, a joint venture between HM Treasury and the Local Government Association, and is currently a Non-Executive Director and Trustee of the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) Design: South East, chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance, Diocese of Rochester, director, Housing and Finance Institute and a member of the Governing Body of Canterbury Christ Church University.

James is an Executive Board Director of Costain Group and Managing Director of Infrastructure at Costain. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, The Institute of Directors and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He also represents the industry on the Princes Trust Construction and Business Services Leadership Group, championing the introduction of young people into the industry.

UK – Network Rail has named Andy Haynes as the new Contracts and Procurement Director. He joins the Route Services Senior Management team and reports directly to Susan Cooklin, Route Services Director.

UK – The Suttons Group has announced the appointment of former Stolt-Nielsen man, Barry McNally as Managing Director of Suttons International, based at the company’s head office in Widnes, Cheshire.

UK – Steve Crosland has joined the board of the Port of Tyne as a Non-Executive Director.

UK – Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed Dafydd Williams to the role of Head of Communications – Humber. Williams, who is currently Head of Corporate Affairs at Yorkshire Water, joins ABP in January and will be responsible for raising the profile of Humber ports and their contribution to the Yorkshire and Humber region.

DENMARK – Norden has announced Christian Vinther Christensen as the new Head of Dry Cargo. Effective January 1, 2017, Christensen will become part of Senior Management and will report to CEO Jan Rindbo.

CHINA – DENMARK – Maersk Line has announced Mike Fang as the new Head of Greater China operations, effective January 1, 2017. Based in Shanghai, Fang will take over from Silvia Ding, who is moving to Copenhagen as head of Trade Management at Maersk Line.

HONG KONG – DHL Supply Chain has appointed Jez McQueen to the role of Managing Director for Hong Kong and Macau. McQueen's 24 years at DHL have seen him develop industries in Greater China, Africa, and the Middle East.

INDIA – GAC Shipping India has appointed C Krishnakumar as the General Manager, Logistics Services for its Chennai office.

US – Boeing has named Kevin McAllister as the new President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, succeeding company Vice Chairman Ray Conner in that role. Joining from GE Aviation, McAllister will work closely with Conner, who will remain as Vice Chairman through 2017.

Veteran Boeing Executive, Stanley Deal has been named President and CEO of Boeing Global Services, a new business unit to be formed from the customer services groups within the company's existing commercial airplanes and defence, space and security business units.

Both appointments are effective immediately as they also become members of company’s Executive Council.

US – Nehds Logistics has announced Charles Johnson as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.

US – Effective December 1, Kari Kirchhoefer will become Vice President and General Manager – Chemical at Union Pacific, taking over the role from Beth Whited who has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Whited will succeed Eric Butler who has been named as the company’s new Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, taking over from Diane Duren, who will retire in February 2017, after 32 years of service. Duren will serve as Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary until she retires.

Deborah Chase Hopkins has been named to the Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2017. Hopkins is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citi Ventures and Citi's Chief Innovation Officer. She plans to retire from Citi at the end of this year.

US – Versant Supply Chain has announced the promotion of Chief Operating Officer, Buck Brewer to the position of President assuming the position from Richard Peters, who will continue to serve as Chairman.

US – Redwood Logistics has announced Alan Toliver as Chief Logistics Officer for Redwood Supply Chain Solutions.
