US – This week’s round up of freight and logistics appointments begin with news that FedEx has announced that David Bronczek will assume the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of the FedEx Corporation, effective February 1, where he will be responsible for marketing, sales, and all FedEx operating companies. Though his appointment was previously announced in October, the company say that ‘substantial progress’ in in the integration of TNT into FedEx Express has accelerated Bronczek's promotion by 11 months.
David L. Cunningham will succeed Bronczek as President and CEO of FedEx Express. He previously served as Regional President of the Asia Pacific Region and most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In his new position, Cunningham will be responsible for the leadership and direction of the FedEx Express group, which includes FedEx Express and TNT. He will also serve on the Strategic Management Committee of FedEx Corporation.
US – Delta Airlines has announced Jeanne Jackson as its newest Member of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Jackson is Senior Strategic Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of NIKE and also currently serves on the Boards of Directors of McDonald's Corporation and Kraft Heinz Company.
US – Giselle Rodriguez has recently joined the BGI Worldwide Logistics team as an in-house Customs Broker.
US – Captain Michael Rodriguez has been named as the 15th Superintendent of the Texas A&M Galveston. Rodriguez has been the Deputy Maritime Administrator with the US Maritime Administration since 2014.
US – UK – B&H Worldwide has announced Blas Jimenez as its new National Operations Manager in the US. Reporting to VP – Americas, Reg Echeumuna, Jimenez will be based in Miami, Florida, and spend a considerable amount of time at the company’s LA, California, office.
Rami Osman will relocate from B&H's LA office to London, to become Export Manager. He will report to Neil Blakemore, General Manger – UK Operations
UK – Dover Harbour Board has announced Alisdair Cameron as a Non-Executive Director, effective February 1. Cameron is currently the Chief Financial & Operations Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Post Office Limited. He is also about to complete his term as a Non-Executive Director of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
UK – BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions UK has appointed Ian Corbett as the new Head of Central Credit for its Equipment and Logistics Division.
UK – Keith Perry has been appointed as Business Development Manager for the Lloyd Morgan Group.
UK – The British Transport Police Authority (BTPA) has announced the appointments of a new Deputy and 5 new Board Members. Mark Phillips, who has been a Board Member of the BTPA since 2013, has been named as the new Deputy Chair. He is also currently Chief Executive Officer at the Rail Safety and Standards Board and has previously worked at Network Rail as Regional Director for Anglia and as Deputy Managing Director for the Greater Anglia franchise.
Businessman William Gallagher, Chartered Accountant Shrinivas Honap, Experienced Strategist Jeremy Mayhew, retired Chief Constable Martin Richards. and Human Resources expert Beverley Shears have been appointed as new members of the BTPA Board.
UK – Skuld has announced Paul Knighton as its new Global Head of Marine Cargo and Marine Property. He will join Skuld Syndicate 1897 in the summer.
GERMANY – The ECS Group has named Martin Bittner as its new Managing Director of Global Air Cargo, Germany. He assumed the role on January 1, taking over from Mark Grinsted who will retire after serving 14 years with the company, on March 31.
GERMANY – Harald Schefft has been appointed Director of Global Contract Logistics at Röhlig, based at the head office in Bremen, Germany. He reports to Hylton Gray, CEO for the core business of air and sea freight and for the areas of project and contract logistics.
SWEDEN – Trond Myklebust has taken over the role of CEO at Viking Supply Ships. Bengt Rem has been reinstated as Chairman of the Board of Viking Supply Ships, having been interim CEO, with Folke Patriksson has returned to his previous position as Deputy Chairman, having taken over the responsibilities of Chairman.
UAE – The National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL) has announced the appointment of Abdullah bin Khediya as the General Coordinator of the Association to support NAFL's objectives aimed at promoting the importance of the UAE as a global hub for cargo and logistics sector.
UAE – James Hogan has announced that he will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Aviation Group in the second half of 2017. Hogan will join an investment company along with Etihad Aviation Group CFO James Rigney, who will also leave the company later this year. A global search for a new Group CEO and a new Group CFO is already underway.
