Testing Shipping Containers Can Be Fun!

Engineers Video What You Need to Do to Properly Check Out a Forty Foot Box
Shipping News Feature

DENMARK – WORLDWIDE – Maersk Container Industries (MCI) is the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group subsidiary which develops and manufactures dry containers, reefer containers and refrigeration machines for Maersk Line, and has the responsibility that boxes are made fit for purpose and remain so during their working life. So part of the duties which an MCI test engineer has is to test all types of containers, possibly to destruction, so why not have a little fun doing so?

MCI rightly point out that its products are responsible for delivering millions of Christmas presents safely and in good condition and so recently got together with the Discovery Channel to film the horrors that the steel boxes have to go through to evidence their worth. The result is a short video here which demonstrates just what does happen when you drop a forty foot box from a great height onto an unforgiving quayside.
