UK / HUNGARY – European freight forwarder and logistics service provider TDG have consolidated their expansion into Eastern Europe last year by acquiring Hungarian 4PL provider RSS Logistics.
Though only established in 2007 RSS Logistics has grown rapidly and established itself with a number of clients supplying transport solutions via its network of local freight companies.
The deal will see RSS’ managing director, Ferenc Federer, bring his established operations team into the TDG fold as part of TDG Logistics kft, a move that he believes will benefit both parties. “'With such established and highly successful 4PL operations for customers such as Corus and Aggregate Industries in the UK, TDG totally understands the scale potential offered by the RRS operating model. This is a spring board from which to both extend their service offerings and support their geographic expansion strategy,” he said.
By combining their business model with RSS’, TDG expects to substantially expand their own operations in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) business sector. Kevin Richardson, TDG's Strategic Development Director says that: “Having initially set up operations to focus on the provision of international services, this acquisition allows TDG to expand its services into the Hungarian market by offering a high quality domestic transport capability. Strategically the acquisition extends our current 4PL capability into a new geography as well as complementing our current operations in the region.”
TDG’s CEO Mike Branigan is also very happy with the combination, saying: “We are delighted that Ferenc and his team are joining TDG. This is an excellent strategic fit and supports TDG's continued growth and expansion plans”.
