Swiss Appointments Lead the Week’s Freight and Logistics Staff News

SWITZERLAND – Panalpina’s Board of Directors has nominated Peter Ulber, currently CEO at the freight forwarding and logistics group, as its new Chairman, to succeed Dr Rudolf Hug, who has served the role since 2007 and does not stand for re-election due to age limitations as per company bylaws. Stefan Karlan, currently regional CEO for Asia Pacific, has been designated to succeed Ulber as the next CEO.

SWITZERLAND – The Board of Directors at Kuenhe + Nagel has put forward its current Vice Chairman, Dr Joerg Wolle, for election as Chairman at the company’s AGM in May when all of the group's staff changes are agreed upon. He will replace Karl Gernandt, who has been appointed as President of Kuehne Holding and Vice Chairman of Kuehne + Nagel International.

Bernd Wrede, also Vice Chairman of the Board, will not be standing for re-election. He will remain with the company as a member of the Chairman’s Committee, Nomination and Compensation as well as Audit Committee, until the group’s AGM. Additionally the Board has also proposed the appointment of Hauke Stars to the Board.

Dr Thomas Staehelin, former President of the Kuehne Holding AG, will assume the role as Vice President of the Board.

SWEDEN – In an effort to increase shareholder presence and aviation experience amongst its directors, West Atlantic has announced several changes to its upper management starting with CEO and President Gustaf Thureborn, who leaves his position to transfer to an advisory role, with Fredrik Groth appointed interim CEO.

Thureborn also leaves his role as a Member of the Board, along with fellow Members, Carsten Browall, Ingvar Nilsson, Marianne Dicander Alexandersson, and the Chairman of the Board, Lars Lindgren. Taking their place, Tony Auld, Russell Ladkin, and Fredrik Lindgren have been named as Members of the Board, with Göran Berglund appointed as Chairman.

UK – 3PL fulfilment provider DK Fulfilment, has announced Kama Villiers as its new Client Management Supervisor. Joining from Jaguar Land Rover, Villiers will oversee DKF’s customer service team and will liaise directly with several key accounts.

UK – Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality (AGCS) has appointed Andrew Whitehouse as Regional Unit London Head of Marine. Reporting to Brian Kirwan, AGCS CEO UK, and Paul O’Neill, Global Head of Marine and Energy, Whitehouse took up his new role on March 1.

US – The Greenbrier Companies has announced that its Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, William Glenn, has decided to step down from his role to pursue other opportunities. Effective immediately, Glenn is relinquishing his responsibilities as CCO but will retain his role as President of Greenbrier Europe during a transitional period.

US – Joseph North has been promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of STV. His focus at the company has so far been in rail operations and is now supporting STV's major projects across several industries and developing new business.

US – Seegrid, specialists in autonomous vehicle technology, has announced the appointments of two industry veterans to its operations and product teams. Tim Spang joins as the Vice President of Operations and Sean Stetson as Director of Product Development,

ASIA – Following the opening of two new offices in Asia, Shipco Airfreight has announced new appointments to its management team. Dennis Bey has been appointed as General Manager Airfreight – North East Asia, based in China. In Hong Kong, Leslie Chung has taken up the role of General Manager Airfreight – South China & Hong Kong. Alex Olsen has been appointed Airfreight Development Manager. Located in Ho Chi Minh, Alex will oversee Shipco’s airfreight development in Vietnam.

UAE – Gulftainer has announced the appointment of Flemming Dalgaard as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Group. Outgoing CEO Peter Richards will now serve on Gulftainer’s Executive Board and lead the expansion of the company’s footprint in the United States as Chief Executive Officer of Gulftainer USA.
