US – The week's staff announcements in the realms of freight transport start with the news that shipping group Crowley Maritime has named Daniel Vargas to the newly created role of Vice President of International Business Development, to support the company’s liner and logistics services groups. Based at Crowley's office in South Florida and will report to Steve Collar, Senior Vice President and General Manager, International Liner Services.

US – Aegean Marine Petroleum Network has announced the appointment of Jonathan Mcilroy as President, effective immediately. Jean Jose Metey, who has served as interim President since June 2017, has been appointed Vice President and Head of Corporate Development, effective immediately.

US – Marine Products Corporation has appointed Pamela Rollins, granddaughter of the company’s founder and daughter of the Chairman, to the Board of Directors.

US – Union Pacific has announced the election of Bhavesh Patel to the company’s Board of Directors.

US – FedEx Has announced the retirement of Christine Richards, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary, effective September 30. Richards has led the company’s legal, regulatory, governmental affairs and security groups since 2005. Her successor will be named later.

US – XPO Logistics has appointed Christopher Synek as President of Transportation in North America, reporting to Troy Cooper, Chief Operating Officer.

US – David VandeLinde has been named Director of Dealer Service and Parts Process for Hyundai Motor America.

CANADA – Doron Grosman has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Container Terminals (GCT) effective immediately. Grosman replaces Stephen Edwards, who served in the position since 2012.

UK – Kimberly Karlshoej, head of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) charity arm, the ITF Seafarers Trust, is to step down from her post and take on a consultancy role there. Tomas Abrahamsson has been named the new Acting Head.

UK – BluJay Solutions has announced Katie Kinraid as General Manager APAC. She previously held the role of Global Head of Strategy for Blackbay which BluJay had acquired in April.

UK – Ian Millen and Amanda Hastings have been announced as Trustees of the Human Rights at Sea, in support of the charity's national and international work and its development, effective immediately.

UK – The Port of London Authority has appointed Julie Tankard as Chief Financial Officer and a Member of the PLA Board, succeeding Brian Chapman, who will be retiring after 16 years with the organisation. Tankard will join the PLA in early October and, after induction and handover will take up the CFO role from 1 November, when Brian Chapman will formally retire.

UK – TotalKare has appointed Ryan Stacey as the company’s new dedicated Inspection and Training Engineer.

ISRAEL – ZIM Integrated Shipping Services has announced several changes to its management team. Yohai Benita, who for the last five years has held the position of Global Budget Manager, has been named Acting Chief Financial Officer, until the appointment of a permanent CFO to replace Guy Eldar, who has completed his term. Saar Dotan, previously VP of Business Projects, has been appointed as VP of Sales and Customer Services.

Partnerships Manager Yael Livant, has been appointed Planning and Development Division Manager, to take over from Daphna Dvir, who will be retiring after 35 years of service. Dudu Avni has announced that he will leave the company after 11 years, during which time he served as the company’s Chief Information Officer for 9 years and as VP of Customer Sales for the last two years.

DUBAI – DHL Global Forwarding has named Amadou Diallo as CEO for the Middle East and Africa region.
