UK – The end of this month will once again see the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) hosting its annual Awards for Excellence which it describes as a ‘glittering non-stop showcase of the most outstanding and innovative technical developments to hit the materials handling industry over the last year’. Saturday, 28 February, 2015 is the date and the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire the venue giving representatives from different factions of the supply chain to gather, network and possibly even collect an award.
Battling for a prestigious ‘Archie’ this year is a fork lift truck with a cabin that rotates like a tank turret, lift forks with laser positioning guides and a 3D stereoscopic vehicle camera that looks out for humans in its path. There’s also an electronic truck co-pilot that alerts operators to danger, a tyre that tells you when it needs changing and a shortlist of some of the safest fork lift truck sites in the country.
The evening is open to members and non-members of the FLTA alike and features a three-course banquet, a charity auction and an after-show party that includes live music and a late night DJ as the fork lift truck fraternity hits the dance floor with the Awards themselves hosted again by TV presenter Jonny Gould. Details can be seen here and bookings made via this link.
