ITALY – CHINA – AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) have successfully completed a record transportation of twenty seven RKN Envirotainers on board a single flight, delivering an important and urgent vaccine product from Milan, Italy to Beijing, China on October 30 for one of their global partners, Kuehne+Nagel Italy.

The RKN Envirotainers come in a range of sizes holding between one and five pallets dependent on the model chosen. Some simply are cooled with dry ice, whilst others use a temperature control system and utilise compressor cooling and electric heating technology, to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, particularly for smaller shipments.

The single pallet RKN e1 container for example maintains product temperatures in the +2 to +8 °C range, controlled room temperature (+15 to +25 °C) range or at any chosen set temperature between ±0 to +25 °C. All twenty seven active containers were delivered to the ground handling company ALHA, Milan ready to ‘load and go’ on board one of the AirBridgeCargo’s Boeing 747-8F services to its home hub in Moscow with a further connection to Beijing.

ABC’s dedicated pharma team together with the local operations and customer service teams coordinated and monitored each step of the transportation, starting from priority booking on all flight sectors to overseeing the loading process, as well as smooth and seamless offloading at the cargo group’s Sheremetyevo airport, Moscow hub, and loading onto the connecting flight to Beijing the same day.

Additional support was provided by ABCs Control Tower, who managed real-time, round-the-clock monitoring of the flight.
