UK – The UK Chamber of Shipping has announced that Bob Sanguinetti has decided to step down as Chief Executive, to embark on a new role as Chief Executive of the Aberdeen Harbour Board, taking up his new role later this year. The recruitment process for a replacement will begin shortly.
UK – The Seafarers' Charity (formerly Seafarers UK) has announced the appointment of two additional Trustees to the Charity’s General Council, Nusrat Ghani, Member of Parliament, and Rear Admiral Iain Lower MA, AFNI.
Ghani is the MP for Wealden. She previously served in the Department of Transport as Minister for High-Speed Rail, Buses, Taxis, Transport Accessibility and Maritime between January 2018 and February 2020. Well regarded in her time with the Department of Transport, her responsibilities as Minister included leading the introduction of the Maritime2050 plan, and setting key business, trade, finance, technological and environmental targets for Britain’s shipping and ports industry, including driving the UK’s successful campaign that secured a landmark global commitment at the International Maritime Organisation to reduce global shipping emissions by 50%.
She currently sits on the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee, where she is leading their investigation into UK business supply chains to the Xinjiang region of China. She is also a UK representative to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and sits on the Science and Technology Committee.
Rear Admiral Iain Lower is the Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff and the Royal Navy’s Director for Strategy, International Relations, Maritime Sector, Parliamentary & Academic Engagement. His formative years at sea were spent in the Fishery Protection Squadron and on escort duty protecting merchant shipping through the world’s maritime choke points. In later years, he commanded destroyers (HMS Dragon & HMS Gloucester), Minehunters (HMS Shoreham) and Offshore Patrol Vessels (HMS Leeds Castle) on operations across the globe.
UK – Graham Harvey has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer of Windship Technology.
UK – BluJay Solutions has appointed Rick Medlock to its Board of Directors as Chair, effective April 1. Medlock has more than 30 years’ experience in financial management, working for international businesses and holding executive leadership roles at a number of companies including WorldPay, Misys, Inmarsat, and NDS Group.
DENMARK – At Maersk's recent Annual General Meeting, Dorothee Blessing stepped down from the Board of Directors and Amparo Moraleda was elected as new member of the Board of Directors.
DENMARK – Maersk Supply Service has appointed Philippe Kavafyan as a new member of its Board of Directors. He most recently served as CEO for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind from 2018 to 2020. Kavafyan will replace Mads Winther on the Maersk Supply Service Board of Directors.
FRANCE – US – Malcolm Wilson, XPO’s Chief Executive Officer - Europe, has been named to become CEO of XPO's new outfit, GXO Logistics.
US – American Trucking Associations (ATA) has announced the appointment of long-time government affairs professional Jon Eisen as the new Director of the Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference (IMCC), an affiliated conference of the ATA.
Eisen joins the ATA after a long career with International Foodservice Distributors Association, most recently as the organisation’s Senior Vice President of Government Relations.
US – Thordon Bearings has announced the promotion of Scott Groves to Vice President – Sales, effective since March 11. He recently held the position of interim Sales Director since July 2020. Groves joined the company in 2002 in the customer service department and has been steadily promoted over the years.
US – Cargojet has announce that Alan Gershenhorn to its Board of Directors effective immediately and will stand for election at the Corporation’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders scheduled to be held on March 30.
James Crane has resigned from the Board in line with best corporate governance practices in order to pursue a business venture in the US with which Cargojet has a significantly expanding commercial relationship. As Lead Director, Paul Godfrey will act as interim Independent Chair of the Board.
US – P&I insurer, the Standard Club, has appointed Gina Venezia as new General Counsel in their New York office. Venezia joins Standard Club after more than 20 years at Freehill Hogan & Mahar as an expert in maritime law issues.
She replaces LeRoy Lambert who retired from the club in February after many years’ service. LeRoy was General Counsel for the last three years having served as President and Regional Claims Director since 2009.
HONG KONG – B&H Worldwide has announced the appointment of Eddie Chan as Business Development Manager, Asia, based at the B&H Worldwide facility in Hong Kong. Chan will report to Group Head of Sales, Michael Haskins.
INDIA – The Board of Directors of Mahindra has announced that Dr. Anish Shah, currently the Deputy Managing Director and Group Chief Financial Officer, will take over as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 2.
In November, when Anand Mahindra transitions to the role of Non-Executive Chairman, Dr. Anish Shah will become the first professional MD and CEO in the history of the Mahindra Group to have a complete oversight of and responsibility for the Mahindra Group businesses.
Dr. Pawan Goenka will retire as the MD and CEO, and Member of the Board of Directors of M&M Ltd effective April 2. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director will take full charge of these sectors and will report to Dr. Shah.
