Staff Movements in Freight and Logistics This Week

Major Changes at International Air Cargo Body

WORLDWIDE – The weekly roundup of staff changes and movements from across the freight and logistics industry start with the announcement of five new board members to The International Air Cargo Association’s (TIACA) Board of Directors from Asia, Europe, and North America, each one representing a different sector of the industry.

The new Board members are Amy Smith, Head of Customs and Regulatory Affairs at DHL Express (USA); Chee Meng Wong, Senior Vice President of Cargo Services at SATS; Russi Batliwala, Chief Executive Officer at Chapman Freeborn Airchartering; Oliver Gritz, Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director Europe at Worldwide Air Logistics Group; and Greg Guillaume, Senior Vice President (Strategic Development) at Atlas Worldwide Holdings.

NORWAY – Effective immediately, Morten Nystad has stepped down from his position as Senior Vice President of Odjfell Tankers after 35 years with the company. Until a suitable successor can be found, the President and CEO Tore Jakobsen will take over in the interim. Jakobsen is due to be relieved of his role as President and CEO on August 1, having taken over on a temporary basis in December 2014 following the departure of Jan Hammer, to be succeeded by Kristian Verner Mørch.

GERMANY – American Airlines Cargo has appointed Gisela Schork to the position of Regional Sales Manager – Cargo, Germany and Switzerland, effective immediately. She reports to the Managing Director of Sales – Cargo, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Tristan Koch.

UK – Director General at the Rail Executive in the Department for Transport, Clare Moriarty, has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for Defra.

UK – Northgate Vehicle Hire has announced that Bob Mackenzie will be retiring from his role of Chairman at the Company's AGM in September. Andrew Page, who joined the Group as Senior Independent Director in December 2014, and subject to re-election, will take over as Chairman following the AGM. Non-Executive Director, Jan Astrand will also retire from the group in September. A successor has yet to be named.

SINGAPORE – Esben Poulsson has been appointed as the new President of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), to succeed Patrick Phoon. Poulsson has served as a member of SSA’s Council for the past 8 years, 4 of which have been spent as Honorary Secretary of the Association. Concurrently, he also represents Singapore on the Board of London-based International Chamber of Shipping where he holds the position of Vice Chairman.

US – The Port of Oakland has elected Earl Hamlin the new President of the Board of Port Commissioners with former President, Alan Yee, who is to take up the role of 1st Vice President and Commissioner Michael Colbruno chosen as the 2nd Vice President. All three officers will serve in their posts for one year.

US – Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Parker Harrison has been promoted to Vice President of Procurement. She will remain based in Jacksonville and report to John Calvin, Senior Vice President and Controller.

US – Peter Neffenger has been selected as the sixth Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration. He now leads a workforce of approximately 60,000 employees, the security operations at nearly 450 airports throughout the United States, the Federal Air Marshal Service, and shared security for highways, railroads, ports, mass transit systems and pipelines.

US – The Port Logistics Group has named Marty Brogden as its new Chief Financial Officer, reporting directly to CEO Robert Stull.
