EUROPE – Rear Admiral Jean Martens (German Navy) has handed over the role of Deputy Operation Commander of EU NAVFOR Somalia – Operation Atalanta to Rear Admiral Bartolomé Bauzá (Spanish Navy). Rear Admiral Martens joined the Operation in July 2013 and he returns to Germany to resume his command of the German Flotilla 1. EU NAVFOR is the European Union’s combined naval task force dedicated to protecting vessels carrying relief for the World Food Programme but lately more concerned with chasing and capturing pirates targeting merchant shipping in the Gulf of Aden.

UK – Former Chief Executive Officer of Ceva Logistics and current Chairman of the NHS Blood and Transplant unit John Pattullo, has been named as Chairman of the Board for the Marken group of companies. Effective February 1, he will succeed Robert Ellis.

UK – The Office of Rail Regulation has appointed Joanna Whittington as its new Director of Railway Markets and Economics and John Larkinson as Director of Economic Regulation. Both Whittington and Larkinson will work closely with each other on the development and preparation of the 2018 periodic review. Whittington will join ORR from 3 March, succeeding Cathryn Ross who moved on from ORR late last year.

UK – FRANCE – GERMANY – Gazeley has announced three new appointments with Harald Evers joining as Global Asset Manager at the company’s office in Frankfurt, Aly Meghani working as a Financial Analyst at Gazeley’s London headquarters and Florian Wnuck in the position of Business Development Director, based in Paris.

BELGIUM – Boeing has named Brian Moran as President of European Union and NATO Relations. Moran will be responsible for working with all European institutions and representing Boeing interests at the EU, European Parliament and NATO.

Moran, who will be based in Brussels, Belgium, succeeds Antonio De Palmas, who has been appointed President of Boeing Italy. Moran will report to Shep Hill, President, Boeing International, and Senior Vice President, Business Development and Strategy.

DENMARK – Trumf Bunker has announced the appointment of Søren Madsen as Senior Bunker Supplier. He will be based at the company’s headquarters in Middelfart, Denmark.

LUXEMBOURG – Cargolux Airlines International has announced the resignation of its Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Member of the Executive Committee Robert van de Weg, due to differences with the Board of Directors regarding Cargolux’s strategy for the future, after having spent 14 years with the airline. Henning zur Hausen, Member of the Executive Committee and Senior Vice President Legal Affairs and Compliance, will assume responsibility for the Marketing & Sales role on an interim basis.

INDIA –Gary Toomey has stepped down from his role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jet Airways with immediate effect. Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan has been named as acting CEO until a formal successor has been named.

SINGAPORE – Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Samudera Shipping Line, Anwarsyah, has announced his resignation, effective January 31. Hermawan Fridiana Herman, current Executive Director responsible for the Finance and Administrative Functions of the group will be appointed Executed Director of Finance effective January 31, taking over Anwarsyah’s responsibilities.

NIGERIA – President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed the previous National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Bamanga Tukur, as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

GHANA – CMA CGM has appointed Geoffrey Cole as Deputy General Manager of its subsidiary Delmas Shipping Ghana.

US – CEVA Logistics has announced the appointment of Jane Sorensen as Vice President, Import Services and US Customs Brokerage. Sorensen joins CEVA from FedEx where she was General Manager of the Company’s Central Region for FedEx Trade Networks.

US – Canaveral Port Authority has appointed Alberto Cabrera as Senior Director of Cargo Business Development, and George Arocha as Director and General Manager of Cargo and Terminal Operations

US – Con-way has announced that its Chairman of the Board Dr. W. Keith Kennedy has stepped down from his role, effective immediately. He will continue to serve on the board until he is of retirement age. Current Member of the Board and Chairman of its Financial Committee, Roy Templin has been named as Kennedy’s successor

US – American Fast Freight has promoted Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives Mike Bevers to the position of Chief Operating Officer.

US – Chrysler has appointed Steven Beahm as its new Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Management. He moves over from sales operations where he was Vice President

US – D’anne Duclos has replaced Nancy Davies as Vice President of Toyota Logistics Services. Davies has moved over to a position in sales and production planning at Toyota Motor Sales as Vice President of Distribution Operations. Missy Pearlman is now the National Rail Strategy and Operations Manager for Toyota Logistics Services.

Pearlman has replaced Michael Nelson, who retired earlier this month. Pearlman, Davies and Duclos will be based at the TMS and TLS headquarters in Torrance, California.

NORTH AMERICA – The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) welcomed four new Members of the Board of Directors, as well as electing Katie Farmer (Group Vice President, Consumer Products of BNSF Railway) as the Association’s Vice Chairman and joins IANA Chairman Phil Shook, (Director of Intermodal at C.H. Robinson), and IANA Treasurer Don Aiken, (Vice President of Intermodal Operations at Schneider National), who were both re-elected to their positions.

Each of IANA’s four new Board Members will serve a three-year term. The new appointments are Adriene Bailey, Vice President of Strategic Business Development, transportation division, Yusen Logistics (Americas), filling an at-large seat; Kate Betsworth, Vice President of Intermodal Operations at Union Pacific, also filling an at-large seat; Robert Curry Jr., President and CEO of California Multimodal, filling a motor carrier division opening; and Keith Lovetro, President and CEO of TRAC Intermodal, filling a supplier division seat.

BRAZIL – CEO of MRS Logistica, Eduardo Parente, has announced that he will leave the company, effective February 17. Chief Operating Officer Carlos Waack will act as interim CEO.

SWITZERLAND – Panalpina’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Alastair Robertson, has decided to take on a new challenge outside of the industry. Alastair Robertson joined Panalpina in 2007 as Head of Global Human Resources and joined the company’s Executive Board in 2008. Robertson will take on a new challenge outside of the freight forwarding and logistics industry. He will leave the company during the course of the year.
