Staff Changes at Major Freight Logistics and Shipping Groups

WORLDWIDE –President of freight and logistics group UPS International Dan Brutto will retire at the end of April. Jim Barber, current president of UPS Europe, will succeed Brutto and in his new position, Barber will join UPS's Management Committee, comprised of the company's 10 most senior shipping executives.

NETHERLANDS – The Supervisory Board of TNT Express has announced this week, the appointment of Louis Willem ‘Tex’ Gunning as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), pending shareholder approval, with effect 1 June 2013. He is a member of TNT Express’ Supervisory Board, a role he will relinquish with immediate effect.

Bernard Bot, who was appointed interim CEO on 24 September 2012 after the departure of Marie Christine Lombard, will resume his Executive Board position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Jeroen Seyger, current interim CFO, will continue in a senior Finance function in the company.

Following the demerger of TNT Express and PostNL in 2011, the two companies have agreed to update and amend their Relationship Agreement as signed at the time of their demerger. As part of the new arrangement, PostNL is entitled to recommend one candidate for nomination to the Supervisory Board of TNT Express. The candidate, Sjoerd Vollebregt will be nominated for appointment as an independent member to the Supervisory Board.

UK - The United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) has announced that its chairman, John Maguire, sales and marketing director of articulated forklift truck specialist, Flexi Narrow Aisle Ltd will continue in his UKWA post for an extra year. Traditionally, the chairman of UKWA has served in the role for a period of two years and John, who took up the position in July 2011, was due to hand over the reins this summer. However, he will now continue until July 2014.

“The Association is seeking a period of continuity and we are delighted that John has agreed to continue the excellent work he has started for another 12 months,” said UKWA chief executive officer, Roger Williams.

EUROPE - Global logistics provider Agility, has announced the appointment of Pietro Albarelli as Managing Director, Area South Europe. In his new role, Albarelli will focus on continuing Agility’s growth in Area South Europe, which includes operations in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Austria and Turkey. Albarelli has been with Agility for more than 20 years. For the last three years he was the CFO, Area South Europe, and prior to that he was the CFO, Italy.

NETHERLANDS – Kim Pedersen has been appointed Executive Vice President of Geodis Wilson. Starting March 1st, 2013, he will be heading the global Freight Forwarding division of Geodis and in taking this position he also becomes a member of the group’s Executive Management.

UK – RUSSIA – Air Charter Service (ACS) has announced the promotion of Justin Bowman from Commercial Director to Deputy Managing Director of the Group, effective immediately. In this new role, Bowman will work in conjunction with Tony Bauckham, Group Managing Director.

The company has also announced the appointment of Azat Mulgimov as General Director in ACS Moscow. He has spent the last five years as Commercial Director and Member of the Board of Directors at Russian cargo charter airline Aviacon Zitotrans. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of a freight forwarding company in Russia.

UK – Robin Teverson and Andrew Wells have been appointed to the Board of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) by Environment Secretary Owen Paterson. The appointments will run from 18 February 2013 until 31 January 2016. Board Members receive a remuneration of £11,804 for a minimum of 36 days per year.

UK - IRELAND - Industrial chain supplier, FB Chain Ltd, which supplies to much of the materials handling sector has appointed John Wilson as its Conveyor Chain Product Manager for Ireland. John, who will divide his time between the UK mainland and Ireland, will be responsible for developing sales of FB Chain’s range of conveyor and transmission products that are used to drive conveyor systems operating across a wide variety of industries.

US – Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group has named Farhad Rajabi as Vice President of its Project Management Team. He will work out of the group’s Houston office and report to Craig Tornga, Crowley’s Vice President of Solutions.

NEW ZEALAND – Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee this week announced the appointment of Russell Watson, Maxine Moana-Tuwhangai and Belinda Vernon to the Maritime New Zealand board, and the appointment of Howard Broad as a Commissioner of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission. Watson and Moana-Tuwhangai begin their terms on 28 February while Vernon begins her term on 1 May. Broad begins his term as a Commissioner of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission on March 1.
