Shipping News Feature DENMARK – The week's staff announcements in the fields of shipping and logistics start with the news that Niels Smedegaard has decided to step down as Chief Executive Officer of DFDS at the end of April, after over 12 years in the role. Torben Carlsen, who has been the company's Chief Financial Officer since 2009, will become the new CEO.

DENMARK – AP Møller – Mærsk has proposed that Dorothee Blessing, Niels Bjørn Christiansen and Arne Karlsson will stand for re-election to the Board of Directors at the company’s upcoming ordinary Annual General Meeting.

Robert Routs and Jan Leschly will stand down from the board with Bernard Bot and Marc Engel elected as new members.

UK – Transaid has welcomed three new Trustees onto its board of Directors, collectively bringing a wealth of experience in the transport and logistics industry. Their appointments follow a recruitment campaign which attracted a record level of applications to join the international development organisation in its 20th anniversary year.

Joan Aitken OBE, recently retired after 16 years as Traffic Commissioner for Scotland; Alan Hunt, Managing Director of Schmitz Cargobull UK and John Gurr, Sourcing Supply Director of Kingfisher Group have all joined the board taking the total number of Trustees to 15. They replace long-standing trustees who have stepped down due to natural rotation.

UK – Mike Brown MVO has been appointed as the new Chair of the UK Government’s Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Taskforce (TIET), effective immediately.

The taskforce is charged with implementing the Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Strategy (TIES), a collaboration between the Department for Transport, Transport for London, HS2 Ltd, Network Rail and Highways England.

UK – V.Group has announced the appointment of Alison Henriksen to the role of Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. In addition to her new role, Henriksen will serve as a member of V.Group’s board of directors. Alison will take over the position from Rod Day, who has served as interim CFO since August 2017.

UK – Xpediator has announced Jonathan Wright to the Group’s Operational Board, as Chief Operating Officer UK Logistics.

GERMANY – Tobias Meyer has been appointed to the Board of Management of Deutsche Post DHL, with responsibility for Post & Paket Deutschland, effective April 1. Meyer was most recently Chief Operations Officer of the Post & Paket Deutschland division. He will taking over his new duties from Frank Appel, who has been managing the division in addition to his role as CEO since April 2018.
