Staff Appointments and Departures in Freight Haulage and Logistics This Week

UK – We start this week’s announcements of staff moves in the logistics sector with the news that, after 12 years with the British International Freight Association (BIFA), Becky Thurtell is leaving to start her own exhibitions and events consultancy and to make use of her multi-lingual skills. Thurtell has worked at BIFA for almost half the life of the organisation and can be reached at becky@thurtell.co.uk.

UK – Ed Hubbard has joined Multimodal as its new Events Manager. Having just completed its ninth year, Hubbard joins the Multimodal team from organiser Clarion Events' Trade Business, where he was responsible for the Retail Division. He will be working with Multimodal Director Robert Jervis (who has some serious constraints on his time approaching) and the rest of the team, to further evolve the show and develop Clarion Events' Transport and Logistics portfolio.

UK – Dematic has appointed Mark Hacker as Engineering Director for Northern Europe. Immediately prior to joining Dematic, Hacker had been at B/E Aerospace tasked with integrating all the cabin facilities and services for civil aircraft.

UK – Specialist maritime communications consultancy Seaborne Communications has appointed Simon Gutteridge to the role of Business Development Director. Prior to joining Seaborne, Simon led the development of a range of technically focused events for the Institute of Marine, Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), as conference producer and sponsorship manager.

UK – IRELAND – Express parcel carrier UPS has appointed Elisabeth Rodriguez as Country Manager for UPS Ireland, succeeding Andy Smith who becomes Transportation Operations Manager for the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics district, based in London.

LUXEMBOURG – d’Amico International Shipping has appointed Carlos Balestra di Mottola as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Company.

LUXEMBOURG – Cargolux has appointed Lars Syberg as the company’s new Executive Vice President Global Logistics, effective June 6. Syberg joins Cargolux from Zebra A/S – Retail, where he was responsible for the global supply chain.

SWITZERLAND – Tim Scharwath, a member of the Management Board of Kuehne + Nagel and responsible for global airfreight, has decided to leave the company within the next twelve months in order to take on a new challenge.

SWEDEN – Greencarrier Freight Services has promoted Jarmo Halonen to the role of Chief Operating Officer, with combined responsibility for the company’s air, ocean, road and rail freight activities.

US – Will Flores has joined STV as a Vice President in its Transport and Infrastructure division. Based in New York, Flores will report directly to Richard Amodei, STV Senior Vice President and head of the division’s Northeast Region.

US – Titan International has announced the transition of Jon Hrudicka from his position as CFO to the role of Senior Vice President of North American Tire, effective since May 2. James Froisland has been named as interim CFO as the company conducts a search for a permanent Chief Financial Officer.

US – Matheson has announced the appointment of Yasmin Seyal as the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

US – Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), has promoted Stacie Speckman to Vice President, Operations for North America. Based in Houston, Speckman will report to Tim Cahill, Executive Vice President, North America.

US – UPS Freight President Rich McArdle has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). 

US – Terence Madl has joined SEKO Logistics as Vice President Network Development, based in Chicago.
