GERMANY – Freight forwarding and logistics group Geodis Wilson has announced the appointment of Matthias Hansen as the new Regional Vice President, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) with immediate effect. Hansen has been acting as interim RVP for the last few months. He now replaces Alain Chimene on a permanent basis. Hansen will continue with his duties as Managing Director of North Europe until a successor has been found.
SWEDEN – The Election Committee of AB Volvo has proposed Martina Merz and Eckhard Cordes for election as new Board members at its AGM on April 1. Merz recently relinquished her position as CEO of the global brake manufacturer Chassis Brakes International. Cordes has held a number of management positions at various automotive companies.
The Election Committee has also resolved to propose the re-election of Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg and Board members Matti Alahuhta, James Griffith, Kathryn Marinello, Hanne de Mora, Anders Nyrén, Olof Persson and Lars Westerberg. Jean-Baptiste Duzan will not stand for re-election.
IRELAND – Irish Continental Group has announced the retirement of Financial Director Garry O’Dea, at the end of May. Current Financial Director for Irish Ferries, David Ledwidge has been appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer of ICG.
UK – Dr Ross Moloney, former CEO of Skills for Logistics, has been appointed to the roll of Managing Director of FireDog Research. Moloney is a founding partner of FireDog Research and was instrumental in the merge and re-brand with Vegas Communications.
UK – Inchcape Shipping Services has announced the appointment of Tony Carter to VP Operations – Marine Outsourcing, reporting to Trond Baade ISS Senior VP – Marine Outsourcing.
UK – Marianne Culver has been appointed as TNT UK’s new Managing Director, effective immediately.
ROMANIA – George Buruiana has resigned from his position as General Manager of Romania’s state-owned railway freight company CFR Marfa, citing personal reasons, having only taken up the position in June 2014. Deputy GM, Laurentiu Georgescu has taken up the role on an interim basis.
US – INDIA – Philippe Gilbert has been appointed to the position of DB Schenker's Regional CEO, Americas, effective March 1. Gilbert will succeed Heiner Murmann who is retiring from the role but will continue his 20-year tenure with the company as a member of the Schenker AG Global Management Board.
DB Schenker’s Indian subsidiary, Schenker India Pvt. Ltd, has named Rupesh Gupta as Director of Ocean Freight. He will report to Shubhendu Das, Chief Operating Officer of Schenker India.
US – Oivind Lorentzen has stepped down as CEO of Seacor Holdings, but will continue as a Director and non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Charles Fabrikant, Executive Chairman, assumed the position of CEO. In addition, the Company appointed John Gellert and Eric Fabrikant as co-Chief Operating Officers. Gellert will oversee Offshore Marine Services and Eric Fabrikant will oversee Transportation Services, Witt O'Brien's and CLEANCOR Energy Solutions.
Matthew Cenac, Chief Financial Officer, and Paul Robinson, Chief Legal Officer, have been elevated to the position of Executive Vice President. Bruce Weins, formerly Controller, has been appointed Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President.
US – Southeastern Freight Lines has promoted James Williams to the role of Service Centre Manager of the Fort Smith, Arkansas, office.
US – Patriot Rail Company has promoted Jennifer Whiteman from Vice President, Finance and Accounting to Chief Financial Officer. Justin Broyles has been appointed to the role of Vice President of Sales, having held a number of business development positions at R.J. Corman Railroad Group.
US – Kevin Tomlinson, Director of Maintenance, South Shore Transportation, has been elected 2015-2016 General Chairman and Treasurer of American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council.
US – Northrop Grumman has elected James Turley, former Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young, to its Board of Directors.
