Shipping, Freight and Logistics Associated Staff Moves This Week

UK – First up in our look at this week's announcements of new appointments and departures in the world of shipping, freight and logistics sees David Kerr, currently Senior Vice President at Etihad Cargo, move to the role of of breakbulk freight carrier CargoLogicAir, effective January 1, 2018.

UK – ShipServ has announced changes to its senior team. Mikael Weis has moved from his position as Vice President and Chief Legal Officer to Chief Operating Officer, while Don Staffin, ShipServ's SVP for 14 years, has been appointed to Executive Vice President for the Americas operation as well as global partner relationships and initiatives in the cruise industry.

UK – Core Management Logistics (CML) has announced Sonia Da Silva to the role of Project Manager, reporting to Senior Operations Manager Bill Connolly.

IRELAND – The cargo management company, e-Cargoware has announced the appointment of industry veteran Des Vertannes as its non-executive chairman of the board.

DENMARK – Maersk Container Industry has announced Sean Fitzgerald as its next Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2018. Since 2014, Fitzgerald has acted as President at Joy Global China, part of the Japanese manufacturing company Komatsu Mining.

DENMARK – BIMCO has appointed Rasmus Nord Jørgensen as its new Director of Communications, effective since November 1.

GERMANY – Andreas Kayser takes over German Country Management for Air and Sea Freight at Gebrüder Weiss.

SPAIN – Noatum Ports has announced a new management team following its acquisition by Cosco shipping earlier this year. Kai Sun, long-term Cosco employee who joined the group in 1994, has been named as the new CEO. Wei Zhang, Executive Director, the Vice Chairman of the Board and the Managing Director of Cosco Shipping Ports, has been named President of Noatum Ports. Ken Chan, currently Deputy Managing Director of Cosco Shipping Ports, has been appointed as a Member of Noatum's Board.

Chris Gray, currently Executive Chairman of Noatum Ports will step down from that position and continue as Chairman of Noatum Maritime. Douglas Schultz, until now Managing Director of Noatum Ports, will retain his functions for some months to support the transition process, acting as an advisor to the new management team. Subsequently, he will continue to be a member of the Board of Noatum Ports and CEO of Noatum Maritime.

SINGAPORE – DNV GL Oil & Gas has appointed Brice Le Gallo as Regional Manager for South East Asia & Australia. He succeeds Arve Johan Kalleklev, who transferred back to a new role in Norway.

HONG KONG – Seaspan Corporation has announced Bing Chen to take over the role of CEO and member of the Board of Directors from January 2018, following the retirement of Gerry Wang, effective November 3. Upon Wang's retirement, Peter Curtis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will also serve as Seaspan's interim Chief Executive Officer until Chen's arrival, after which Curtis will continue in his current role.

CANADA – Metro Supply Chain Group has announced Heiner Murmann to the company’s Advisory Board. Murmann spent the better part of his career at DB Schenker. In his advisory role, Murmann will work closely with Metro's management team to help steer strategic growth in all markets with an emphasis on the company's expanding international operations.

US – The Port of Oakland has announced Daria Edgerly as Secretary of the Board. Edgerly succeeds John Betterton who retired after two decades as the Port's Board Secretary. She worked previously for the City of Oakland.

US – Sasser Family Holdings (SFH), a fourth-generation family-held transportation asset services and management company has named Bryan Zair to the role of Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. He will report to CEO Jeff Walsh.

US – Spartan Motors has announced Dominic Romeo to the company’s Board of Directors and its Audit Committee. Romeo currently serves on the board of Novanta and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Thor Industries.

US – Navistar International has announced the promotion of Josef Kory to Senior Vice President of Parts, reporting to Michael Cancelliere, President of Truck and Parts.
