SINGAPORE – Safety is paramount in all industries but aboard ship it takes on an importance rarely matched by on shore activities. Singapore-based Thome Ship Management provides integrated ship management services to a range of international shipping and offshore industries and now vessels under its charge will benefit from a new Safety Service agreement made Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS). Both companies share a Norwegian pedigree and Ryan Dalgado, Procurement & Supply Chain Manager from Thome said:

“Partnering with WSS on our safety service management gives us the assurance that our safety equipment is managed to the same high standard, wherever our vessels are operating. Working with WSS, we also benefit from their geographical spread and in-depth knowledge of local port procedures to keep port stays short.”

WSS safety service technicians carry out services on a wide range of safety, firefighting and rescue equipment such as CO2 high-pressure systems, portable fire extinguishers, hydrants and fire hoses, inflatable life jackets, smoke sampling systems and portable gas detectors. Harald Lundestad, General Manager for WSS in Singapore said:

“Companies such as Thome have to balance the logistical demands of managing a large and diverse fleet trading worldwide with the challenge of keeping vessels compliant. Our Safety Service Agreement allows us to monitor due dates and pro-actively plan service visits so that we can help customers improve efficiency in safety management.”

All WSS service stations operate in accordance with IACS, UR, Z17 approvals and governance. WSS is the only service network with an ISO 9001 approval. They are also approved by DNV GL, Korean Register, Bureau Veritas, ABS, Lloyds Register, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and RINA.
