SDV Renews Satellite Logistics Contract with Thales Alenia

FRANCE / WORLDWIDE – France-based SDV have had their contract to provide logistics and specialist freight support for Thales Alenia Space satellites program renewed for four years.

SDV will retain responsibility for transporting the extremely delicate and high value loads from the assembly facilities in France and Italy to the Kourou launch site in French Guiana, the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan as well as to the Vandenberg satellite launch centre in California and Xi Chang in China.

The complexities involved means that every shipment is practically unique with many specific constraints in addition to strict delivery deadlines and high level of confidentiality.

To achieve this SDV utilise a totally dedicated team of specialists for each shipment, with purpose-designed containers custom made for each load and the giant AN 124 aircraft used for transportation.

SDV stated that they were pleased with the confidence that Thales showed in renewing the contract.
