Russian Blackberry Supply Chain Contract Goes To K and N

RUSSIA - Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS and one of the two official distributors of Blackberry devices in the region, have awarded a contract for their airfreight import and export as well as road transport services to Kuehne & Nagel. MTS made history in 2008 when it became the first and only Russian company to enter “BRANDZ™ Top 100 Most Powerful Brands as listed in the Financial Times.

Under the agreement, Kuehne & Nagel’s services will include airfreight import activities shipping from approximately forty originating countries and the freight forwarder will also manage the delivery by 80 plus cubic metre ‘Supercube’ trucks from foreign countries including CIS to Moscow. Several major forwarders are said to have tendered for the works.

MTS provides mobile communications in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia and Belarus, a territory with a total population of more than 230 million and Kuehne & Nagel, who say they have specifically focused on the high tech industry segment in the region, believe their reputation for reliability and security won them the contract.
