BULGARIA – The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport has declared that all heavy goods vehicles in the country are to halt and await permission to proceed due to extreme cold weather which has hit the country in recent days. Road haulage operators are warned to seek local advice before entering the country.

Though the authorities state that they hope to allow some movements later today the only route that is expected to open will be between the capital Sofia and the Greek border Kulata crossing with other routes closed until probably after the weekend.

Though it is forecast that the cold weather will break late next week, the forecasts for tomorrow are for a high of -13C and lows of -20C. Any operators with vehicles in the country should anticipate disruption and delays.
