UK – Letchworth Garden City based Aztek Logistics takes its commitment to the Transport for London Fleet Operators’ Recognition Scheme (FORS) scheme very seriously and, despite being far more than a domestic road haulage outfit, is aiming to boost its current Bronze status up to Silver Award status. The company which operates the full range of logistics services, from self-storage to international freight groupage operations, has supported the move toward safer roads for cyclists and other vulnerable users with the fitting of Brigade four-way camera systems to all new vehicles.
We have written at length in the past about the need for both commercial vehicle users and cyclists to consider the problems each faces as metropolitan streets become ever more crowded despite Congestion Charging, increased use of bus lanes etc. The new systems fitted by Aztek Logistics enable the driver to have 360 degree visibility around the vehicle at all times and also record incidents and accidents where proof of cause can be clearly seen, as in the case of 50/50 insurance claims.
The company also intends to reinforce its place in Letchworth by making a substantial investment in their local on-site warehouse facilities. A pre-planning application has been submitted, and subject to minor alterations, will enable the company to boast a new 12 metre high bay warehouse, fitted out with VNA racking and man-up trucks, completed by new office facilities. Also with a view to the future the company has nominated Linde Material Handling as their long term supplier for forklift trucks and Managing Director, Stuart Charter, explained the thinking behind both the site development and the Linde appointment, saying:
“We are in our tenth anniversary year, and this [property development] marks a massive step up in providing the level of facilities on-site that match our commitment in the purchase of new vehicles, IT investment and proposed BRC accreditation, for the benefit of our client’s products and services.
“We have been very pleased over the last few years with the performance of a LPG powered counter-balance truck from Linde complimented by a first class back up service. Following a demonstration of their range of new equipment we have made a significant investment in six new Linde trucks. All the trucks will be to the highest specification, and liveried in our company colours.”
