Recent Freight and Shipping Appointments and Departures Across the Transport Modes

Changes at the Top for Cargo Only Airline Heads the List

LUXEMBOURG – We start this week’s appointment and management changes in the world of freight and shipping with the announcement that after only two months of working at Cargolux, Robert Song, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia & Pacific, has left his role at the cargo only airline with immediate effect. Prior to joining Cargolux, Song worked for Chinese aviation investor Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment, which now has a 35% stake in Cargolux, a deal which was orchestrated by Song. Cargolux also announced the promotion of Kevin Shek to Vice President Asia & Pacific, effective immediately.

MALTA – Manuel Agius has been appointed Chief Officer – Cargo at Air Malta, effective since May 19. He will form part of the airline’s senior management team reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Louis Giordimaina.

UK – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has appointed Chris Black in the newly created position of Head of Fleet.

UK – Northrup Grumman has announced series of changes to its senior staff, all effective June 30. Ben Palmer has been appointed Director of European Strategy and Business Development, with Jon Anderson taking the role of Director of Business Development for C4ISR - Land, Maritime and Civil, and Simon Cooper as Director of Business Development, C4ISR – Air. They all report to Ian Milne Business Director for Unmanned Systems and Logistics.

UK – Potter Logistics has promoted Nick Brightly to the role of Transport Director.

UK – Inchcape Shipping Serives (ISS) has announced the appointment of Matthew Phelps as Senior Vice President – Procurement and Operations Integration. Phelps will be based in the company’s UK head office and will report to Suren Thandani, ISS COO.

UK – Network Rail Consulting has appointed Andy Harrison as Director of Signalling and Control Systems.

UK – The TT Club has promoted Robert Kempkens to the role of Claims Directors, replacing Phil Nichols who has announced his retirement from the Club.

UK – INDIA – SINGAPORE – Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has announced three new senior appointments. Narayanan Shankar joins as Senior Vice President of Business Development, based in Singapore. He will co-direct business development and strategy with Anil Devli, COO (Commercial) of IRClass. Praveen Kumar Mishra has been appointed as Vice President, based in London, UK. Over in India, Ravi Kiron Kalra has been promoted from Senior Principal Surveyor to the role of Head of Safety.

SINGAPORE – TURKEY – Air Partner has announced two new appointments to its freight team. Mark Middleton joins the group as Director of Business Development for Freight – Asia Pacific, and Stuart Smith as Business Development Manager for Freight – MENA/CIS. Middleton will be based at the company’s office in Singapore and Smith with be based in Istanbul.

US – Forward Air has announced the promotion of Matthew Jewell to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Intermodal Services and Chief Strategy Officer. Michael Hance has been promoted to Jewell’s former position of Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary.
