UK – IRELAND -Paul Gallagher has been appointed Chief Executive Officer in the UK & Ireland for global logistics suppliers Damco with effect from March 1st 2011. Gallagher has a wealth of experience from his almost 30 years' within the shipping, logistics and freight forwarding industry. Starting his career with US Lines in 1982 he moved to Royal Nedlloyd in 1987 and joined A.P. Moller - Maersk when acquiring P&O Nedlloyd in 2005. He has held a number of senior positions in Damco with these roles including tenure of more than 16 years as the Managing Director of Damco Sea & Air before taking up the position of Chief Operations Officer for Damco in UK & Ireland, the position from which he has been promoted.
UK – The Eddie Stobart haulage group saw son of the founder William, depart from the management board last week. Mr Stobart, the groups Chief operating Officer will be concentrating on his operations function with company subsidiaries. This means the last Stobart family member has left the board in a move which saw three other board members leave including David Irlam, who will remain in charge of business development.
UK - FB Chain Ltd, the leading manufacturer and supplier of leaf chain to the materials handling industry, has announced the appointment of Peter Church as its new managing director. Peter succeeds Phil Taylor, who is retiring after 25 years at the helm of the Letchworth-based company. Peter Church is in his second spell with FB Chain having previously worked for the business between 1989 and 1999 before moving on to take up senior positions within PLCs supplying components to manufacturers. He brings a good understanding of UK manufacturing and a wealth of sales and marketing experience to his new role.
GERMANY – Hermann Ude, will leave his post at DHL Global Forwarding at the end of this month having stepped down last week from the Deutsche Post AG Board of Management to be replaced by Roger Crook. The Supervisory Board of the German logistics giant expressed its gratitude to Hermann Ude for his successful work in effectively leading and further developing the Global Forwarding, Freight Business Unit and said Ude, 49, and the company have reached a termination agreement which lies within the framework of the German Corporate Governance Codex. Roger Cook took over his post immediately having previously been in charge of the business unit DHL Express Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
GERMANY – Bremen based project forwarding and heavy lift specialist Beluga Shipping has announced the appointment of Joerg Roehl as its new head of global sales. The 40-year-old will be responsible for improving the organisation and will be responsible for leading both the Beluga Sales Team worldwide as well as its global agent network. The appointment is the latest in several management changes within the company including the sudden departure of Niels Stolberg last week after major US shareholder Oaktree Capital Management apparently demanded several senior management changes including the appointment of Roger Iliffe as CEO.
CANADA - Lori McCreight has taken a position as Senior VP of Solutions for Canada Cartage System. Ms McCreight is a chartered accountant who has previously held the position of President at National Fast Freight, a Calyx Group carrier. Her new role will make her responsible for engineering and national account management functions at the Canadian carrier.
