Aim to break even - MD

UK - Southampton haulier Pentalver Transport has reported that its profits have slumped this year despite a rise in turnover.

Brian Tattersall, the Groups Managing Director, said that: “At the moment we are having a disastrous year because we have acres in Southampton that are not being used.

“My target for the year is to break even,” he added.

The bad results are a result of the recession which has seen demand for Pentalver’s services from Southampton, Tilbury and Felixstowe greatly reduced.

The tough times have led to the company cutting 50 staff, which has resulted in a £3 million saving in the firms wage bill.
