Panalpina Open Dubai Multimodal Logistics Hub

Key Location for New Cargo Handling Facility

UAE – Shipping and logistics group Panalpina has begun operating from its new 450,000 square feet state-of-the art multimodal transit and logistics hub in the Dubai Logistics City free trade zone. The company believe the key position of the facility, adjacent to the new Al Maktoum International Airport and the Jebel Ali seaport between Dubai city centre and Abu Dhabi, will provide customers with improved cost and service efficiencies in the United Arab Emirates and across the Persian Gulf region.

 The new facility consists of 30,000 square feet office space, a 120,000 square feet multipurpose logistics operating area with 10,000 VNA (very narrow aisle) pallet positions in a temperature-controlled ambient environment plus 150,000 square feet of lay down area. The facility will be Tapa A (Transport and Asset Protected)certified, it has 23 gates including 1 mega door, 10 dock levellers, air cargo pallet roller beds and 45 feet ceiling height.

Panalpina intend to use the site to offer their full range of multimodal freight services combined with logistics products including VMI (vendor managed inventory), postponement, customization, pick & pack and warehousing causing Claus Schmidt, Panalpina Managing Director of the Arabian Belt area to comment:

It will allow us to significantly increase our services offerings in supply chain management by providing a seamless integration of international air, ocean and trucking services with our logistics and order fulfilling services.”
