Orient Overseas Container Line Announces Further Rate Increases

HONG KONG – Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced this week that they will be instituting new rates schedules for services between Asia and Australia. The increases will be introduced from Tuesday (15th September) and will mean a US $300 rise per TEU on traffic bound for Australia from South East Asia.

There will also be a $250 increase per TEU on cargo emanating from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. These rates will apply from 21st September.

These increases follow last months announcement by OOCL that they would be raising prices from 1st October for containers shipping between Northern Europe and the US, Canada and Mexico. These will cost an extra $320 and $400 for 20 and 40 foot boxes respectively.
