UK – EUROPE – Materials handling specialist, Briggs Equipment, always a popular choice with those in the logistics sector with its Yale and Hyster ranges of fork trucks and equipment, is continuing its ongoing charity work by sponsoring a team in the 2016 Rally for Heroes. The deal was announced at the recent Autosport International event at Birmingham’s NEC and the impressive Briggs branded Porsche Cayman took centre stage. Rally for Heroes raises money for military charities and aims to give something back to members of the Armed Forces once they return from operations, including those who have previously served with the military.

The charity’s signature event is the biennial Rally for Heroes road trip which this year sets off from HMS Victory in Portsmouth on August 5. The nine-day event will see more than 100 people and some 60 vehicles (including support vehicles) drive across Europe. The aim is to drive five miles for every fallen service person since the start of the Afghanistan conflict and raise £100,000 for Rally for Heroes' chosen charity.

This year Rally for Heroes is fundraising in aid of SSAFA. The oldest UK national military charity, SSAFA has been providing practical, emotional and financial support to current personnel, both Regulars and Reserves, and those who have served in the Royal Navy, British Army and RAF, and their families, since 1885. Briggs' support reflects its partnership with the Armed Forces through the company's Defence Logistic Support division, which provides global equipment supply and support to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Gary Clements, Strategic Development Director at Briggs Equipment, said:

"We are delighted to be involved with Rally for Heroes, which does such an important job supporting the charities that provide a helping hand to serving members of the Armed Forces and ex-servicemen and women and their families. We are committed to ongoing charity support and our sponsorship of the team in the Rally for Heroes road trip is another initiative in our longstanding partnership with the MoD. The route will see the team travel along some of Europe's most inspiring roads and we wish them all the best as they raise money for a very worthy cause.”

To date Rally for Heroes has raised in excess of £250,000 for military charities, including Help for Heroes, SSAFA and the Royal British Legion and all participants in the Rally for Heroes road trip have to raise at least £1500 per car and 100% of the sponsorship goes to charity.
