Norbert Dentressangle Secures Logistics Contract With Highway Agency

ENGLAND – Freight and logistics company Norbert Dentressangle (ND) has won a four-year contract to handle the English Highways Agency national distribution and warehousing needs following a rigorous tender process.

The Agency is the authority responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network and as such its logistical requirements are highly complex and varied.

Dentressangle’s will be responsible for the storage of a multitude of components - from matrix signs and gantries to nuts and bolts - that are used by the Highways Agency for the provision and maintenance of roadside cameras, telephones and electronic signs on the motorway network in England.

The company shall also handle the distribution requirements of these items, either to the Agency’s regional maintenance contractors or direct to roadside projects. Dentressangle’s state that they intend to minimise lead times and the corresponding logistics costs where possible by implementing a ‘just-in-time’ delivery method to the required destinations.

Due to the diverse nature of the materials being handled under the contract ND will provide more than 100,000 sq ft of storage space at its facility in Telford so as to provide a central hub for dealing with the Agency’s national requirements as they occur.

The warehouse is also to be equipped with a workshop area for use by the Agency’s technical support contractors.
