UK – To raise awareness among fleet managers and professional road haulage drivers Brake, the road safety charity, is teaming up with Vision Express to run a webinar on the risk of poor driver eyesight and the importance of combatting it in any fleet tasked with moving freight, no matter the size of the truck. The 'Look Sharp: Tackling driver eyesight in your fleet' session will take place on Tuesday 4 April 2017.

The two organisations say the webinar and is an ideal opportunity to hear from experts in the field, as well as a case study from a fleet operator who has successfully implemented strategies which incorporate the importance of eye health. Zari’aat Masood, professional engagement officer at Brake, said:

“It is crucial that fleet operators are aware of the importance of managing the risks associated with poor driver eyesight. Road crashes involving a driver with poor vision are estimated to cause 2,900 casualties, and cost £33 million, per year in the UK. We ensure that our vehicles are fit for the road, it is vitally important that drivers are too.”

The webinar will give the opportunity to hear from an expert optometrist, as well as from the fleet operator which has implemented comprehensive policies and procedures to assure its vehicle fleet is driven by sharp-eyed drivers.
