UK - Schmitz Cargobull (UK) part of the leading manufacturer and supplier of semi-trailers in Europe, report an order this week for their County Durham plant for 150 new refrigerated trailers from supermarket giant ASDA. The units will operate from the ASDA regional distribution centres in at Skelmersdale, Falkirk, Erith, Bedford, Lutterworth, Wakefield and Bristol and will freight fresh food products to stores throughout the UK.

In keeping with ASDA’s environmental policy the trailers have all been fitted with side skirts, to improve their aero-dynamics and therefore improve fuel efficiency. The dual temperature trailers are fitted with Carrier fridges and are one of the products made at the Harelaw plant alongside dry freight boxes and curtain sided trailers.

Nigel Somers, Schmitz Cargobull UK’s Regional Sales Director, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Asda. Schmitz Cargobull is a major player in the UK refrigerated trailer market because we offer quality vehicles with the lowest running costs, that are manufactured in an ultra-efficient production facility and backed up by a complete service and after sales support operation. Asda recognise this and we look forward to working with them for many years to come."

The German-owned Schmitz Cargobull Group has manufacturing plants in Germany, Spain, Lithuania and Great Britain and employs 3,300 staff.
