New UK Rail Freight Deal Announced

Stobart and DB Schenker move ever closer

UK – The Warrington based Stobart Group have switched their domestic railfreight services from Direct Rail Services (DRS) to that of DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd.

This follows our story of the 4th August when Stobart announced their new ties with DB Schenker on intermodal links with Spain.

Stobart thanked DRS for their long support and service and confirmed that the new coalition was simply expedient in the light of the new cooperation between the two groups.

The CEO of DB Schenker (Rail) Ltd., Mr Keith Heller, said his company’s commitment to the widespread use of electric locomotives conformed to the Government's proposals in their Low Carbon Transition Plan and that Schenker’s European and UK network supported Stobart’s plans for expansion of their rail services.

Editors Note: Once again, perceived low carbon levels appear to be playing a major part in UK logistics negotiations as the major companies gear up to a changing commercial environment.{4FDE532C-B0D3-4E27-BDE1-3A4
