By enlarging its own dedicated trailer fleet of standardised Schmitz Cargobull Chassis with Thermoking cooling units (mono, bi-temp and double-deck equipment), Kuehne + Nagel aims to corner a substantial area of both the temperature-controlled FTL and LTL markets in the region. The overland pharma fleet is part of the KN PharmaChain network, providing multimodal options for the delivery of such goods globally. Uwe Hött, Senior Vice President Overland Europe at Kuehne + Nagel, explained:
“Logistics solutions for the pharma and healthcare industry are among the most important growth drivers for Kuehne + Nagel’s overland and regional business. This investment is part of our commitment to provide comprehensive, *GxP compliant transport solutions for the industry, which can be tailored to specific needs. The continuous upgrades of our equipment and facilities as well as the ongoing training of our dedicated pharma logistics experts are the centrepieces of our KN PharmaChain overland solutions.“
K+N’s new stock of pharma trailers are fully GxP compliant and offer state-of-the-art technology for temperature controlled transports, including dual temperature, double-deck equipment, Transport Asset Protection Association (TAPA) compliant integrated security locks to be opened remotely with a unique code, integrated control panel, printer for temperature report and GPS control for positioning, temperature, door sensors, coupling and technical status.
* How logistics companies love an acronym. For the uninitiated GxP can mean several things, from Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and so on.
