UK - One of the largest container carriers in the world has joined forces with a Northampton based haulier to form a new logistics company specifically crafted to suit customer demand. Peter Livey, Head of Logistics at Hyundai and now a director of Hyundai and C Butt Solutions Limited spoke to Handy Shipping Guide to confirm that the new company came about as a result of demand for Hyundai to venture more from their traditional role as container carriers.

“More and more customers were asking us for extra services” he said.

The new partnership will organically increase the development of both companies business activities enabling an increased portfolio of services within the UK and European logistics sector, supporting a 'global to local' supply chain solution.” Mr. Soo-Ho Kim, Managing Director of HMM (Europe) Ltd, and company chairman of the new joint venture said.

"This new venture offers the UK market a joint focus on global, national and local supply chain management, support and development".

"This initiative enables the partners to offer innovative, dedicated, bespoke warehousing solutions in the UK backed by local and international experience, plus global strength, breadth and depth" Mr. Clive Hodgkinson Managing Director of C Butt Ltd said.

Hyundai Merchant Marine worldwide run 64 vessels with a container capacity exceeding 300,000 TEU’s.

C.Butt, who have served the industry as a haulage operator for many years, have bucked the trend of a depressed market in the UK, expanding steadily and now can add this deal to the acquisition of the Netto contract reported here in September.
